I'm going off memory for this one. I had it in a 750ml bottle with the cork present.

All I remember was having a reaction of: "Wow, this is an amazing brew!". The taste was fruity, malty, smooth, hints of german hefe (banana), crisp, effervescent, and far too delicious. This is one of those beers where you love the taste so much you end up drinking the beer quickly and you get punished for it. That 9% abv will do serious damage especially because you can't taste the 9% at all. You would swear it was 5%.

I'm making a conservative rating because I'm going to try this later down the road again and it may end up in my top three for favorite brews. That's how much I enjoyed it.

Cheers to Allagash!

Pours hazy golden yellow. Creamy foam that falls slowly. Bread and light malty sweetness. Deep stone fruity, citrusy floral backnote. Taste is sugar sweet with a honey fruit peel and spice. Faint icy lemon peel. Faint banana. Earthy mouthfeel with a bite from dry grain and from carbonation. Soft biscuit malt and it's sweet perfume. Fruit is sweet lie syrup. Snappy drink with a brisk crisp middle. Firm malt with a nice honey taste. Fruity nose dry cracker. Bitter hop finish and tart fruit with some spice.

Poured from bottle into an Allagash glass, nice hazy yellow gold, with an abundant two finger head that stays. Excellent retention and lacing

Aroma has a generic fruity smell, with a hint of floral honey.

Taste is wonderful with very subtle fruit notes, I had mostly pear/plum at the front, with some banana as a very mild background note. Not overly sweet, which requires a little thought to notice the fruit.

Medium body, very good carbonation, very nice finish with no aftertaste. You would never know it was a Tripel until it was two late!

I agree with others that it is very faithful to style, and compares right with Chimay Cinque Cent in color, flavor and finish. Allagash is right on the money with this one.
