A: in a tulip, medium gold beer with a slim head and little lace; slight haze
S: herbal and medicinal hops/yeast, sweeter pale malts were subdued
T: citrus presence up front, some hints of honey sweetness; this isn't a good analogy, but the flavors reminded me a bit of a Luden's honey-lemon cough drop
M: medium-light weight, mild carbonation, slightly fuzzy
O: I was underwhelmed by the beer - I want a sharper-looking tripel with a better head from start to finish; I thought the beer lacked some of the elegance in flavor and feel you would find in a Belgian tripel, say a Westmalle or Karmeliet - and I know that's pretty stiff competition, but to me, they are the standards by which all tripels shall be judged. This was not a bad tripel, but it was also not one I would go for again.

A - dark golden yellow with a huge, white, dense, foamy, head that has great retention
S - white grapes, alcohol, fruit
T - white grapes, warm alcohol, faint grassy hops, some straw-like notes, a bit bitter in the finish
M - big amounts of warming alcohol, well carbonated, medium to full bodied
This is a very nice Tripel with all the traditional markers. The flavors and aromas remind me of the traditional Tripels I have had from Belgium. This is a warm, high ABV, fully flavored, well composed offering from Allagash that is certainly worth your attention.
