Look: Golden amber hue with moderate head and some lacing.

Smell: Sweetness from the malt mixed with prominent banana aroma, and herbal/floral notes.

Taste: Very smooth, with rich maltiness and prominent but not overpowering banana-like taste, finishing with lingering herbal bitterness. Very nice, complex flavor profile.

Feel: Smooth, with a nice bite of carbonation but not overpowering.

1 pt 9.6 fl oz poured into a bulbous wine glass. Batch #217.

A - Golden orange with ruby highlights, semi cloudy, with a fluffy finger and a half head.

S - Banana, clove, candied sugar, spices.

T - Follows the nose, with some bread and dough notes.

M - Carbonation is below average, mouthfeel can be described as both creamy mid swig, but with a dry finish.

O- Always good to have an occassional tripel, this one is borderline exceptional. These beers always seem to hit me hard, more so than comparable Abv IIPA's or strong ales.

750 ml bottle was poured into a stemless wine glass.

Appearance: A billowy two finger head was poured that reduced to a puffy layer. It is a hazy pale yellow with good clarity and vision of tiny bubbles coming up through the glass. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Vanilla, honey, apple, pear, Belgian candy, powdery yeast, pale, and pilsner malts.

Taste: Nice blend of flavors as it warmed. Quite the sipper and very tasty. Warm alcohol in the rear too.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium to full bodied, warm alcohol,

Overall: Enjoyed a lot over the years and many more in the future. Nice Belgian inspired beer readily available here in New England.

750ml bottle, cork and cage, poured into a 'wide-mouth' Sam Smith's imperial pint glass. Batch #214.

A- Hazy pale gold color, satin sheen. The billowy white head settles to about 2f, stays lumpy, and leaves heavy lacing.

S-Belgian style yeast with light fruits. Herbal.

T- Sweet malt and Belgian style yeast. More sweet then funk. Fruit and spice round out the flavors.

M- Full body, velvety on the tongue. Not funky, but there's no denying the alcohol. The booze comes on sweet and strong.

O- Hearty and strong. Drinkability could be a challenge.

Have to give it up for the Allagash tripel. It's one of a kind. Here goes:

A: Beautiful. Hazy gold, massive head and lacing, lots of carbonation. Looks rather perfect for a tripel.

S: If this beer were any more complex, it would not only rival Belgian tripels but exceed them. Lots of coriander, clove, white pepper, orange peel, citrus, and bready Belgian yeast.

T: Just like, if not identical to, the scents. Tons of coriander and clove, orange peel and Belgian candied-sugar. Yeast acts as the cherry on top.

M: Thick and bready. Perfect alcohol content as well (plethora of tastes really masks the alcohol quite well).

O: A classic.

Great Belgian yeast smell. Alcohol bite when cold, so let it warm up a little. On the dark side for a triple, almost tastes like a saison . Great taste and very well done.
