'09 vintage. Poured from a 750ml bottle to a 1 liter glass boot...which immediately filled up with head. Poured the rest into a Duvel tulip.
A - Pours a very clear yellow amber, but gets fairly cloudy if you let any of the sediment get into it. Head gets really really thick, as I noticed, but settles quickly enough, leaving small patches of lacing.
S - A very upfront wine grape aroma mixed with a brett funk, and an outlying smell of smarties candies. That's interesting.
T - sour wine grape permeates, backed by a nice malt foundation, ever so slight hop bitterness. The wild in this wild ale is king here, though it mellows quite a bit as it warms, turning into a very pleasant, malty sour ale.
M - Light on the palate with low carbonation, but my failure in keeping the head from overflowing might have taken some carbonation away.
Overall - A very good choice to pair with the speck (smoked German bacon) and rye toast I was eating. Will have to hunt down more of this and age it again, this time, for longer. Definitely recommended as a special occasion brew.

This beer is between gold and straw in color, with a haze similar to a hefeweizen. The aroma is a tropical fruit and peppery spice. There is a passion fruit flavor with a subtle brett flavor of old socks (but old socks that taste good). I have definitely had several beers where the brett is a little overpowering, but this beer had a nice blend of fruity notes from the yeast and sweetness from the malt that works well with the brett. I really enjoyed it because all the flavors work really well together.
