Appearance: Arrives with a charcoal color and a relatively small tan head that still leaves some lacing behind
Smell: Roasty chocolate elements with subtle bourbon undertones
Taste: Dark fruit and chocolate, up front, with subtle bourbon/vanilla elements developing by mid-palate; after the swallow, the flavors merge together nicely, along with a yeasty complexity from the Belgian yeast strain
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation
Drinkability: Leave it to the folks at Allagash to bourbon barrel age a Belgian stout and to do it with such a light hand as to complement rather than dominate the beer itself; a first class effort
Serving type: on-tap
