Notes/Commercial Description:
Coolship Cerise is our spontaneous beer aged with a blend of Maine-grown cherries, including Balaton and Montmorency. Using local cherries makes our Cerise uniquely Maine, just like us.

thank you a million to Gary for sending these our way...shared with Mike and Scott side-by-side with Red and Balaton.

a - murky orange with a thin head that was gone quick leaving a thin ring of fizziness on the surface.

s - some funky acetone. cherries are there, but not like in the balaton.

t - very funky. dark cherry. the booze is a bit evident compared to the other 2...and this is the strongest and it tastes it.

m - good carbonation. sour and musty.

o - overall unique and different. not something i need again and my clear least favorite of the three. the cherry flavoring is really overshadowed by the cherry flavor of the balaton which is more to my liking.

Bottled 1/18/2011

Pours a hazy golden orange color with a huge head, couldn't get the entire bottle poured because of the amount of head, fades wicked fast though and don't leave a bit of lacing on the glass or any cap on top.

Smell has a bit of a vinegar and cherry sour/tart aroma, a touch of musty funk on the nose as well.

Taste starts out with a acidic vinegar front, the tart cherry adds a bit of complexity and flavor which is much needed, finishes with a musty funky aftertaste and a bit of grapefruit, semi-dry finish, medium sour puckerness.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy pink lemonade capped by an inch of lavender foam; quick fading and dotty lacing

Smell: Funky cherry tartness, with hints of grapefruit pith and meringue

Taste: The sweet cherry fruit dazzles the tip of the tongue but as the liquid passes over the rest of the tastebuds, lactic sourness kicks in along with barnyard funk and buttery oak; quite acetic in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with low to moderate carbonation; tingling acidity

Overall: I restrained myself for quite some time before trying out my bottles from the Coolship series - this is quite a grand first impression; excellent fruit supported by just the right level of tartness for my palate

Thanks, troughnbrew, for the opportunity

This has a light peach color with a clean filtered appearance. The head was a bit red with a light bubbly fizz.

The aroma is off as I catch a musky body odor, a tart sour, honey and tomato ketchup.

For what I caught in the nose I detect none in the taste. The flavor is tart with a cherry and vanilla followed by a minerally earthiness.

The feel is smooth dry with little carbonation and a gritty mineral texture.

Very odd beer here but it's flavor is good enough for a try. Just don't breathe in too deeply when you put your nose in the glass.
