Notes/Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer. Brewed with a generous portion of wheat and spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel, this beer is fruity, refreshing and slightly cloudy in appearance.

Appearance: Pours a pale, cloudy, dull straw/gold color with a healthy sized head on top. Strangely enough, the head doesn't stick around for long...could be a freshness issue. Still, it nails the classic wit 'look.'

Smell: Has a great yeasty aroma with a big dose of lemon. I can sense orange peel, though it's not as present as the other scents. Spicy too...what a great smell!

Taste: Has a good balance of lemon and orange peel. Coriander seed comes through very boldly, as does the wheat flavor. Has a good tang to the flavor...a lot going on here. Very complex.

Mouthfeel: Combines a rounded crispness with a medium mouthfeel due to the yeast deposit.

Drinkability: Really high. This style is one of the easiest drinking styles and this beer takes it to the next level. It would be so easy to knock back pint after pint of this stuff.

This is my first time trying a brew from Allagash and I must that I'm extremely impressed. Outstanding!

A: Typical hazy pale yellow color. Nothing notable about 1 finger semi-soapy head. Really poor retention and no signs of lacing, granted it was serve in a pint glass.

S: Banana, clove, graham cracker malts, coriander perfumes, but fruit esters seemed to dominate.

M: Lighter bodied and creamier feel, but still refreshing with a moderately high carbonation level. Dry, crisp, and tart finish is superb.

T: Considerably more complex than the aroma suggests. Banana and cloves, floral hops, scant lemongrass tartness, white pepper and coriander spicing, orange pith gives it a dry and tart character on the finish. Slight metallic, but a definite medicinal character builds as well.
