Cloudy pale yellow. Nice fluffy 2 finger head with multiple bubble sizes and fairly active carbonation. That's what I call a White Wheat Belgian ale! Live yeast keeps a vined lace clinging to the sides all the way down
Has a crisp yet sweet smell, like a fruit barn, with the light Belgian funk. Light earthy and musty scent accented by apricot. Very much what I would expect, and done so boldly yet tastefully.
Sweeter than expected, with some of the spice showing through. Getting more than the usual coriander and orange peel thing too - nutmeg I think. As it warms, I get some malt and a bit of the wheat zing. Think I caught some alcohol warmth on the last sip.
Velvety mouthfeel with a tad more sticky tongue at the swallow than I expected. Quite drinkable and a viable session, though not sure how much I would want to drink a Belgian Wheat all night long. This is exactly what I look for in the style, and would send somebody to Allagash for what I think an American Belgian White should be.
