Pale, cloudy yellow with an effervescent head. Spotty lacing and decent retention. (3)
Aroma is all yeast and a hint of spice. Kind of raw and definitely sulfuric. Not great. (2.5)
Flavor is slightly sweet, with a smooth yeast character. Powdery yeast and rustic wheat blend with subtle notes of fruit and lemon. Light and gentle on the palate. Dry finish with a bit of acidity and funk, though not much. Very clean overall. Each sip gets you coming back for more. Drinkability is through the roof if you like wheat beers, which I do. (4, 4)
Allagash is one of the best examples of Witbier brewed in the USA, and I can't believe I've never reviewed since I live in Maine. Great example of a light, drinkable beer that has interest. (4)
