Notes/Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer. Brewed with a generous portion of wheat and spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel, this beer is fruity, refreshing and slightly cloudy in appearance.

Poured up with a nice head that settled down. Nice color, not clear, but murky like a good witbier should be. The smell is nice and light, not too wheaty. Very light taste that continues afterwards. I like this beer, would definitely be interested in getting this again.

64oz growler from CBX, picked up during the Allagash event! Poured into the complimentary Allagash glass...

A: Cloudy, pale gold; one finger of cotton white head; leaves some thin webs of lace. Pretty much exactly what you’d expect from a witbier - but I was expecting a bit more head and lacing.

S: Fresh cracked grains; spicy yeast; zesty brightness / coriander.

T: Wheat; bready / slightly fruity yeast; white pepper; a hint of chalk, but minimal hop bitterness.

M: Light-medium body; high carbonation; crisp and refreshing.

D/O: A really nice, traditional Belgian witbier; very refreshing, smooth and easy drinking. Really good stuff. Takes 2nd place to Hitachino Nest White, but those two are head and shoulders above the rest!

Served on-draught into a pilsner glass in downtown Los Angles, California. Reviewed from notes. I'd had it out of the bottle before, and was already impressed, so my expectations were quite high. Paired with sweet potato chips (fries).

A: Pours a hazy yellow. The head is a half finger of light cream, decent thickness, and bad retention.

Sm: Light lemon citrus esters and cream over a light clean barley foundation. A bit simple, but pleasant and refreshing. Very well balanced.

T: Nicely lightly creamy, with very pleasant refreshing fruit ester hops. The body is near perfect, combining fruit with cream. Very well balanced and built. Also amazingly subtle, to the point that it disguises its own complexity.

Mf: Smooth, wet, and slightly creamy. Just thick enough. Clean and refreshing, and complementary of the flavours. Delicate and light on the palate.

Dr: Incredibly drinkable. An amazing witbier. Very flavourful and complex for the style. Affordable as an import considering its high quality.

Serving: poured 12oz bottle into pilsner glass

Appearance: Cloudy golden straw coloration, small frothy head that dissipates over the course of the drink, delicate sparse lacing on sides of glass. Fun to watch the yeast hit during second pour.

Smell: distinctive yeast smell common to weizens and wits, light and wheaty.

Taste: complex weizen yeast followed by spiciness, this is balanced by the wheat backing. Hint of fruitiness at the end of taste (yeast?). A tad watery.

Mouthfeel: light and fluffy with prominent carbonation that works with spiciness to lightly and pleasantly prickle the tongue.

Overall: excellent witbier (best I've had yet) that leans to the spicy side, extremely refreshing and "drinkable." Session beer? I still prefer German weizens when it comes to wheat beers but I would take this over all but the top tier weizens.
