Notes/Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer. Brewed with a generous portion of wheat and spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel, this beer is fruity, refreshing and slightly cloudy in appearance.

Yummy is the only word to description of this beer.

It was poured nicely & looked great.

The smell and taste were clean & crisp and went very nicely with my veggie sandwich. It also was great as a after lunch drink. Even the one who brewed himself thought that it was a nice refreshing beer for spring & thought it might be paired well with cheesem

A: Pale, straw-yellow. Head was thin, and lacing minimal (although the bartender may be to blame, since a Hefeweizen poured the same evening had only a meager head instead of the expected tower).

S: Lemon-grass. White pepper. And wheat. In that order.

T: Tart and dry up front. The citrus flavors of lemon and orange really stand out. There's a little pepper and coriander mixed in. Wheat is certainly there, but appears later, with the semi-dry and bitter finish. The flavor doesn't linger long.

M: Medium dry, without much carbonation.

O: Quite good among the Witbiers. It would be a close competition with Hoegaarden, but I'd give Allagash a slight edge.

12oz bottle to Allagash tulip. Batch 2351. Sampled 10/30/11.

A: On the pour, more than 3 fingers of bright white foamy head rises quickly to just above the glass's rim, stops, and does not budge for quite some time. The body is light in color, a sunny shade of yellow and lightly milky. Perfectly patterned lace sticks to the glass as the frothy head deflates.

S: Grainy with an adequate wheat presence. Hops provide some citrusy zest, as well as some grassy herbal-ness. Yeast character is high and gives off scents of earthy must. The right amount of spice. Lightly soapy. The nose is as complex as a straight Witbier can be.

T: Light lemony sweetness is countered by dry orange peel, coupled with a modest hop presence to add the right amount of bitterness. Sweet and spice. Banana, ginger, clove and coriander. Lightly dusty. Flavor lasts long and is lightly sweet.

M: Medium full with a thick, creamy texture. At this point in the review, the carbonation is on the softer side of average - probably because of the 'hop' etching on the bottom of the Allagash tulip.

O: It's no wonder why so many consider this beer to be the benchmark American-made Witbier. Rated to style or otherwise - brewed in Belgium or not - this beer is fantastic.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a pale cloudy yellow with a big, fine white head and lacing. Very nice looking. Light aroma of wheat and Belgian wheat beer spicing. A hit of sulphur at first. Taste is great, wheat, yeast, clove and a hint of lemon. Finishes a bit sweet, without the residual spice astringency in many wheat beers. A very nice, pleasant witbeer. Hope to try again.

On tap at Jose Pistolas in Philly, poured into tulip.

A - Hazy lemon gold with a bright white head.

S - Subtle aroma of fresh lemon, banana, and yeast.

T - Lemon citrus, clove, spices, and yeast are the highlights here. Has a slightly sweet malt backbone. Nice grainy finish with some more yeast. Very nice.

M - Smooth and refreshing, light bodied. Good carbonation.

O - Took me awhile to get around to this one, and it does not disappoint. A highly satisfying and drinkable witbier.
