Notes/Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer. Brewed with a generous portion of wheat and spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel, this beer is fruity, refreshing and slightly cloudy in appearance.

Serving: poured 12oz bottle into pilsner glass

Appearance: Cloudy golden straw coloration, small frothy head that dissipates over the course of the drink, delicate sparse lacing on sides of glass. Fun to watch the yeast hit during second pour.

Smell: distinctive yeast smell common to weizens and wits, light and wheaty.

Taste: complex weizen yeast followed by spiciness, this is balanced by the wheat backing. Hint of fruitiness at the end of taste (yeast?). A tad watery.

Mouthfeel: light and fluffy with prominent carbonation that works with spiciness to lightly and pleasantly prickle the tongue.

Overall: excellent witbier (best I've had yet) that leans to the spicy side, extremely refreshing and "drinkable." Session beer? I still prefer German weizens when it comes to wheat beers but I would take this over all but the top tier weizens.

Pour: A cloudy pale yellow. Nice white foamy head.
Smell: Slight fruit smell, mix of orange and lemon with a mellow spice undertone
Taste: Very smooth with light fruit flavors of orange and lemon. Spice is apparent, peppery and possible light clove flavor
A great Witbier. One of the best. Highly recommend.

Allagash White pours an extremely pale yellow color. Light aroma is rather yeasty. I like the creamy smooth mouthfeel on this beer, soft and delicate. The body is soft and velvety smooth with a delicately tingly carbonation level. It's light and extremely drinkable, with the balance tipped slightly toward the bitter side of the scale. The peppery hops character is noticeable, but not overbearing, and it doesn't hang around on the palate, which is a good thing given the style of a wit. Overall, this is probably one of the best wits I've ever had.

In a pint glass (also had in a tulip, not mine, thanx Brian):

A: hazy straw yellow color with a small fizzy head that doesn't last long, lacing speckles the sides of the glass

S: light citrus, clove and coriander

T: spicey through the previously mentioned flavors with some added malty wheat, lemon and yeastiness

M: light to medium, fairly drinkable leaving a peppery aftertaste and finish

O: it seems to be getting better numbers every time I come back to this, still not 100% sold on this one, but it still fits the style.
