Brewed for the 2011 Beer Advocate Belgian Beer Fest. This golden ale has an aroma of biscuit malt and citrus fruit, coupled with the flavor of grapefruit rind. Its grassy bitterness makes way for a dry, clean finish.

10 ounce pour - $6.00 at Leon's Full Service in Decatur, Georgia as part of their Allagash Takeover event.

Appearance: Bronze-colored beverage, hazed, with a two-inch cap of whitish sea foam-like suds.

Smell: Touches of citrus fruits and dried cilantro atop notes of soft, bready malts and store-bought sugar cookies.

Taste: Light, bready malts, a bit doughy, too, with a surprisingly robust cookie crumb sweetness. Grapefruit and lemon citrus tones. Earthy herbal qualities. Light phenolic undertone. Citrusy, semi-dry finish with a meager, lingering spiciness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-high carbonation.

Overall: I found it to be a nice, lively, low-ABV beer.

On tap at Max's during their Belgium fest.

The beer pours solid gold color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose, this is pretty much your prototypical, made in America, Belgian style pale ale. There is honey, considerable hoppy bitterness, and some underlying spice. The beer is otherwise a bit thin on the palate (probably to be expected given the abv.), but otherwise this beer delivers a decent amount of flavor for the alcohol.

A decent beer, but I didn't think it really stood out during the Allagash pre-event at Max's.

From 02/24/12 notes. Had on tap at Fireworks in Arlington, VA.. Served in a tulip.

a - Pours a murky yellow orange color with one finger of fluffy white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of mint, spices, yeast, some citrus hops, light fruity malts, and pepper. Nice but a little too much pepper for me.

t - Tastes of Belgian yeast, spices, bananas, soapy, pepper, grapefruit, fruits, and citrus hops. Very nice, more fruit here.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty smooth.

o - Overall a pretty nice Belgian style pale ale. Lots of Belgian yeast and spices, and some nice fruit to it as well. Would have it again.

Pours a hazy gold with a dense, creamy white head that settles to a thick cap. Crisp aromas of toasted malt and a touch of tart funkiness. Taste consists of mild flavors of grainy malt, some funky yeast, and bitter citrus pith. Mouthfeel is light and spritzy, with a medium-thin body and decent carbonation. Overall not my favorite beer, had a bit of a cleaning solution thing going on. Not sure what this was supposed to be, but I'd definitely pass next time.

Sampled on tap at The Flying Saucer in Raleigh.

Golden and hazy with a thick head that would give whipped cream a good run for its money. Great lacing. Floral and fruity aroma with some black pepper. Nice flavors with citrus, honey and spices. A creamy consistency with a nice low carbonation.

An interesting and enjoyable creation.
