Sampled 07JUL12

This is Allagash's standard Tripel which has been dry hopped with Cascade and Sorachi Ace.

[A] Arrives with a solid 2 finger head, very bright white in color. Decent head retention settles into a thick foam film and collar. Globs of lace grab the glass. The body is a pale straw yellow with decent clarity.

[S] A light scent of dusty lemon and sappy, wet pine on top of a traditional Tripel nose. Light Belgian candi sugars, Pilsner malt and light colored bread. Hay and black peppercorn.

[T] Belgian candi sugars plus sweet bready malt flavors are complimented by dry lemon and earthy pine. The combination is brilliant. Alcohol integrates warmly at the finish.

[M] Amazing. Medium-full body with a gentle carbonation - just effervescent enough to gently graze over the tongue in an even, consistent tongue cleaning fashion. Clean throughout the finish. Dryness sets in just before mid palate.

[O] Allagash's Tripel is a fantastic beer to begin with, so it's no surprise that the dry hopped version is even better.

Great lacing from a creme colored foamy head stands atop a translucent dirty yellow (think pineapple juice) offering, wafting of a hint of dandelion and bubble gum. Taste falls into line with the aroma, as the additional flavor sensation includes light dandelion in the form of hop bite, bubble gum, a little alcohol presence and the finish of a tongue full of bitterness. Not over the top with Belgian yeast, but well balanced in taste and body.
