I am probably rating this a little lower than i would have normally done, but have to be honest. This is a limited release collaboration with local up and comers Maine Beer Company and Rising Tide. This collab has excited me for weeks, as I love everything all three breweries release, however, the price tag of the bottle of $21 has been a bit steep. Finally this weekend, I worked up the nerve to shell out the bucks, and the result was underwhelming.

The mouthfeel, appearance and taste are all fantastic--but the experience isn't much different from most Allagash brews. While this isn't a bad thing, I have to wonder what the point of this collaboration was, if it wasn't going to be something special. Allagash loyalists should only take part in this experience based on the price tag.

Pours a 2 inch white head with decent lacing. citrus (lemon, peal) and light yeast in both smell and taste. Slight mild hops, grassy tones in the taste and aftertaste. Reminds me more of a farmhouse/saison than a Belgian IPA. Another great beer from some of the best Maine breweries. A bit pricey at 22.00 a bottle but supporting a good cause so worth it.

25.4oz Bottle poured into a Duvel tulip.

Appearance: Bright golden yellow with a large head which builds to 2” and then settles in around an inch. Abundant lacing.

Smell: Some floral hops, spice, a bit of saison like funkiness.

Taste: Like the nose, tasting a little more like a Saison that a Belgian IPA. Delicious mix of flavors which work together very well, nice floral hops, a little pepper, then a bit of sweet citrus. Very enjoyable.

Mouthfeel: Clean on the palate.

Overall: Great tasting beer and a bit of a surprise taste-wise. Three very good breweries making a very good beer.

Tap at Great lost Bear.

Nice fluffy head 1 finger fades slowly with nice lacing, mostly clear slight chill haze golden straw color.

Nose starts with a nice farmhouse like Belgian yeast light farmhouse breadiness, golden Belgian malts, hint of floral spiciness, light floral grassy light citrus fruity hop.

Taste nice Belgian yeast, little farmhouse rustic almost light esters, Belgian sweet malt flavors, hint spicy rye and bready yeast, little yeasty. Then hops, light floral and citrus, fruity, fairly decnt bitterness. Long floral grassy spicy hop finish.

Mouth is med to heavier bod, decent carb.

Overall pretty nice.
