Notes/Commercial Description:
Golden Brett is a dark golden colored beer, brewed with Victory, 2-Row and Red Wheat malt. It was lightly hopped with a blend of Northern Brewer and Simcoe hops. The beer started it's primary fermentation in a stainless tank and finished fermentation in a 800 gallon oak foudre. The finished beer has fruity nose and flavors of citrus, apricot and bread crust. The mild tartness of the beer gives way to a long, clean finish.

Poured a orangey, yellowish color that's almost seethru with one finger and lace patches. I pick up the citric hops but I really like picking up small notes of tropical, sweet fruit (mangos, pear, pineapple - it's akin to a light white wine). Taste and mouthfeel is more of the same as it's crisp, sharp, lively, the hops are alive but subdued and balanced and there is a good amount of sweetness to this beer. Not the most complex nor extreme beer of this style but it was an enjoyable beer that I'll have again.

On tap for Beachwood Sour Fest at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach, CA.

Pours a clear golden orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, tropical fruit, and Brett aromas. Taste is much the same with fruit and Brett flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of Brett bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with a great tropical fruit and Brett presence that comes through equally well in the aroma and flavor.

as far as i know this is only available on tap at the source, but its only id like to see proliferate, its fantastic and unique. pouring a surprisingly clear sunshine color with a limited but lacey white head, this beer smells like generous brett. funky and tart, piquant might describe it best, a little acidic, lemons and limes, great great nose. the malt is nonexistent in the flavor, and all i can taste are bittering hops and crazy yeast. its a Belgian gone wild, the brett has really expanded the flavors, with new fruits like pears and green apples being picked up, as well as a farmy hay or straw grassy vibe. complex and drinkable, this has a very well hidden alcohol strength. the coolest part is that the beer is free at allagash. they could charge whatever they want for this and i would still buy it, and they just give it away. just brilliant stuff!

On-tap at the Local Option. Got the last pour, as the keg blew about two-thirds through my glass. Served in a tulip.

A - As expected, there was giant foam. Excellent retention, thick cap, and tons of splotchy lace top a transparent golden body.

S - Aroma is terrific: a mixture of tropical fruit, with pineapple and guava, sweat and musky funk, and a sweet tart tanginess to it. Really delicious, complex, and balanced.

T - The taste unfortunately doesn't match the aroma; more yeasty and doughy, with a vague plastic note to it. There's some peach and grape skin flavor, with a bit of sour lemon in the finish. Not as funky, and with an oddly medicinal brett flavor that I don't totally love.

M - The fill resulted in lower carbonation, but I'm guessing earlier pours had a touch more spritz to them. Medium body, soft texture, and no obvious alcohol.

D - The aroma was killer, but the taste had some flavors I didn't totally enjoy. Still, on the whole this was a pretty tasty beer; it's a shame I didn't get a full pour. Hopefully Allagash makes this again, as it's a very nice brett beer.
