375 ml corked and caged bottle poured into a 3 Fonteinen Wine glass
A- Poured a very attractive mahogany color, dark copper brown/orange very nice color, 2-3 fingers worth of white egg shell colored head, dissipates really slowly. Lots of carbonation, bubbles coming off of the bottom.
S- The aroma is complex, tart, nice funk upfront, but rather balanced, hints of cherries, and red grape skin, nice nutty malt notes in the backend.
T- Taste sour grape, tart, dark fruits, cherries, plums, oak comes out, red wine, nutty, nice funkiness in this one.
M- Medium mouthfeel, well carbonated, crisp finish, nice bite to every sip, alcohol is no where to be seen for being 8.9%.
O- Really enjoyed this one. Had it at the brewery on tap and loved it, and I'm happy to say its just as good from the bottle. Glad i have 3 more, look forward to aging this one and trying it again further down the road.

I had this on tap at When Pigs Fly, initially at a beer dinner, then later for a more in depth tasting.
In a snifter the beer was the color of a dirty penny with a small tan head. There was a little bit of lace.
Aroma was tart and fruity, and vinous.
Great taste. Sour apple and red wine. A little vanilla.
This beer was tart and sour and dry. The alcohol was well-hidden.
I hope this stays in the lineup for a while.

Allagash FV13 –
Poured into my Duvel Tulip. Bottled on 11/29/2012, drank on 7/7/2013
A: Reddish Brown appearance with a large head that takes a while to dissipate and nice lacing. Lots of floating sediment in the glass.
S: Sour mush and cherries. Minor oak notes.
T: Lots of carbonation gives way to a tart sour flavor that ends with a combination of sour fruit and oak.
M: More of a mild sour note that develops and then quickly ends.
O: Good tasting but overly carbonated.
