I picked up a 5L mini-keg of this beer because it was $10.99 whlle the Heinekin mini-keg next to it was $19.99. By my calculations, that would be $0.78 for 12 oz assuming you really can get 5L of liquid out of there. That's BMC cost/volume territory! So, I was intrigued. Could it be any good?

Brought home and dispensed into a 20oz Otter Creek pint. I'm rating the initial pint here.

Poured a hazy yellow color. Plenty of head that left behind substantial lacing. Very carbonated. I always thought clarity was important to the pilsner style, and this one is quite hazy. It may have been due to opening the mini-keg within minutes of the car ride home, so I won't count that against the beer.

Smells sweet. Sweetness and biscuit. Perhaps a bit too sweet, but so far so good!

Taste is sweet and a bit syrupy. Finishes very clean, very little aftertaste. Just enough hops to put a period on each sip.

Mouthfeel is decent. The carbonation at the tap did not carry over to the glass. Seems the taste profile takes a fast track to the finish flavors.

Drinkability? Very much so. On a hot day you this beer's flaws might as well be nonexistant.

I was very pleasantly surprised to find this beer to be so good for so little. I'll have to have some people over to finish it off before it goes flat/stale in the fridge.

For the price... this one is hard to beat!
@ $6.99 for a 4pk of Pint cans...
For a hot summer day by the grill - this is the go to beer!
I care for the taste and the finish wayyy better than the smell.
This is my first encounter with this particular brew. I like it better than Pilsner Urquell!
No attacks please!
Sam

Decent overall Pils. Good taste. Not too heavy. Good pour from the bottle. A very affordable, good drinking beer. Perfect for hot weather- enjoy at a cookout or a day on the gold course, or a day fishing.
Not bitter, light in color, good palatable Pils.
It's usually priced well, too- for the budget conscious consumer. Enjoy!

11.2 ounce bottle poured into pilsener flute glass

A - crystal clear light gold/straw in color, with a small one inch head, decent retention and lacing.

S - The smell is fairly weak, mostly grasses and grains

T - sweet malt taste with a crisp, dry, yeasty, but surprising bitter finish. But everything about this is fairly subtle. The Germans just make this style a little better than we do.

M - gold carbonation but not much aftertaste

O - a good example of the style!!!

The best widely available German Pilsner. The real deal, great with some burgers off the grill or some charcuterie and fromage. I wish they would bring in kegs so we could drink it on tap. Unfortunately for the most part US craft brewers feel the need for too many hops or too much malt to make a classic session style German Pilsner
