Crisp, clear, mouth feel.

Not overly carbonated.

Excellent permeation of pils flavor and good to last dreg.

Typically I find this beer on sale at the Piggly Wiggly, in 4 packs.

I consider an excellent pils like this a highly underated beer in a land flowing with mediocre to horrible lagers, and overpriced over ABV'd microbrews. This is the beer you need when you want a beer that goes right down the middle in excellent form.

I'm not a huge fan of pilsners, so I'll try to rate for the style.

Poured into a pilsner glass and was amazed at just how crystal clear this was. Nice head with retention, such a clear bright yellow and you can read a book through a glass. Scent is sweet honey on toasted biscuits, only slightly grainy, very pleasant and dry on the palette. Refreshing and bubbly on the mouthfeel.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. Will keep a six pack of this on hand for guests or on hot days for myself. I would assume that as far as pilsners available in the US, this would be a top one.

A - Pours a clear yellow bright gold into a stemmed German pils glass, with a fair amount of white head, and a little bit of lacing as the glass is emptied.

S - Slightly skunky, but not in a bad way. Aroma of bitter-sweet hops greets the senses, along with some grassy bitter butterscotch. Smells inviting.

T - Comes on strong with a herbal, slightly bitter and very pleasant hop snap married with balancing malt together in near perfect harmony. Residual flavor of bitter lemon. Wonderful, lingering after-taste that reminds me of dried cereal grains.

M - Coats the tongue with a nice fizz. Well carbonated and rightfully so for a pilsner. Light-to-medium body with an emphasis on medium.

O - The best example of an available, imported German pilsner anywhere in North America. The only German pilsners that would be as good, IMHO, are from SW Germany and generally cannot be found here. So...Prost Kamerad !!

16 oz. can poured into pilsener

L: classic light gold, crystal clear; poured it pretty lightly, so the white foam head was minimal, not even half an inch with no stick (nothing to stick)

S: sweet biscuits ... again, all classic stuff here with bread malt sweetness; maybe a hint of grain, toasted grain

T: grassy green hop bite mixed with sweet bread ... some cereal grain in that malty sweetness; the hops are spicy, too, but this thing is fresh-mown grass green

F: with the lighter pour, this thing is fantastic! i'm a sucker for carbonation, and this one is full of it without ripping off your tongue. light and easy without feeling watery

O: i love pilseners, and i love Konig -- there isn't a thing wrong with this brew, and it's one i'll be going back to often

330ml bottle. Footed Pilsner glass. Straw color, crystal clear appearance. White froth, close & lasting head. Hints of honey, pale malt, grain, slight floral to the nose, as well as slight underlying sulphur. Crispy & malty upfront followed by clean bitterness. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Watery. Floral bitterness lingers & provides bitter finish. Dried, refreshing & easy drinkable. Nice spot of the German Pilsner style.

Poured from a can into a pilsner glass

Appearance: pours light gold and crystal clear with a minimal head that leaves little to no lacing.

Smell: Lightly roasted malt. Bread. Not much hop aroma. Slight floral notes, but nothing substantial.

Taste: crisp, clean and balanced. Malt notes up front. Light toasiness that comes through on the palate, followed by an immediate hop bitterness. Again, not a lot of hop flavor, but you get it to balance out the malt.

Mouthfeel: light and refreshing. Bitterness lingers on the tongue, but neither the hops nor the malt are overwhelming.

Overall: pretty much a perfect example of a German Pilsner: pale gold, moderately hopped, balanced, bready undertones, hop bitterness without a ton of hop aroma. Easy to drink and enjoy.

11.2 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a clear straw color. There's a finger worth of white-colored head, and the retention isn't that great. Some lacing is left on the glass.

S: Unfortunately, I notice a bit of skunk - it's not Heineken bad, or even lightstruck Pilsner Urquell bad, but it overtakes the otherwise decent noble hopping. Malts are vaguely evident, along with a sulfury character (expected from the style). All in all, however, the nose isn't bad.

T: A wave of zesty bitterness hits immediately. Some malty sweetness helps to balance the grassy flavors. Dead simple, but immensely satisfying.

M: Full and creamy for a pilsner. This only slightly inhibits drinkability, and helps give it a richness missing from so many average examples. Carbonation is pretty vibrant.

O: This is a really nice, well hopped pilsner. I'd like it a lot more if it weren't quite so skunky and simplistic (even by pils standards). Still, a worthy offering.
