McGovern's Oatmeal Stout is a very dark, full-bodied stout with a smooth, moderate bitterness and roasted malt character. Integral parts of this stout include its subtle chocolate and caramel flavors. Hops also provide a subtle aroma and flavor without overpowering McGovern's overall balance. The milky, caramel colored head has small, tight, foamy bubbles that slowly cascade into the dark. aromatic liquid thanks to its oatmeal heritage.
Oatmeal also gives McGovern's a richer, full bodied quality with-out the bitter, burnt after-tasty often associated with stouts and other dark beers. This makes for a smoother drinking experience, especially for those who plan to enjoy more than one. Bartender Important - When pouring McGovern's Oatmeal Stout on draft, use any tap faucet with regular bar gas for best results. A traditional restrictor faucet cannot be used.

12 ounce bottle poured into a nonic style pint glass.
Opaque and almost black, covered with one inch of thick light brown foam that leaves nice lace. Strong roasty nose with caramel and chocolate. Flavor is also roasty with bitter-sweet chocolate and a little coffee, starts and finishes bitter. The body is medium, maybe a little thin for style but has a nice oaty feel. Easy to drink.

This beer pours a completely opaque dark dark brown color with a two finger, sudsy mocha head with excellent retention.
Smell is milk chocolate and bitter chocolate, caramel, roastiness, and just a hint of nuttiness.
Taste is similar except with a green bitterness that takes over mid sip. It's really unfortunate because the sip started off wonderfully with big chocolate flavors.
Feel is medium bodied, smooth and velvety with a touch of stickiness.
Overall this beer would be great except for the out of place hop like bitterness. It really kind of ruined it for me.

Deep dark brown where no light passes through. Small starting head which settles to nearly nothing. Few small spots.
The smell is mostly coffee with some dark Baker's chocolate.
This is a very dry stout, more bitter than Guinness, perhaps. The flavor is bitter in a coffee ground sort of way. A bit more rich than most Irish stouts, but the carbonation is the same. Long dark chocolate aftertaste.

Dark pour with a very dark head that dissipated quickly. Smells like a typical oatmeal stout. As for the taste, I picked up a bit of dark coffee, but there's something else on the taste that I'm not a fan of. I can't quite figure out what it is.

Roasted malt aroma, earthy.
Chocolate, caramel, and coffee taste.
Medium-bodied, a little on the bitter side.
