Just a few minutes from Tefts Univ. in Somerville, this little corner place screams neighborhood, boutique type of wine, booze and beer kind of place. Clean, well lit, well laid out, no dust on the bottles. Friendly service, the good beer is located straight ahead in the coolers and on a large display rack. Decent selection, so you will have no trouble finding plenty of BA worthy brew, basically a reasonable selection of the usual widely available stuff. What you will not find is much beyond that. For a wider selection you will have to go to Downtown Wines and spirits, which is just a few minutes driving.

Post EBF bottle shopping :)

More classy, upscale store with everything available to MA. The difference between this one and Downtown is they had rarer beers that i hasn't seen elsewhere. Saw a Utopias, 4 versions of Black Damnation, Older Viscosity and 7 different beers from Bruery. Also had 3 versions of Yeti. Definitely a place to check out for some harder to fins beers.

This is one of the better craft beer, wine, and spirits stores in MA.

The vibe is great- lots of foot traffic, and a clientele who wants to purchase better quality wine, beer, and spirits.

The service is quite good- the staff takes time to help you, and their opinions about beer are valuable.

The store often has craft beers which I couldn't find elsewhere- including the Narragansett Bock,
and Prairie Hop.

They also have an online service for purchasing an order to be picked up. All beers in stock
are listed online.

The store will be opening an additional store under another name in Needham summer of 2013.

One of the most underrated beer havens in the Somerville/Boston area. An unbelievable selection of beers, and always getting new shipments of rare beers and your usual selections. The staff is extremely knowledge in all areas.

If you go, talk to Nate. He is the beer manager and one of the friendliest people in there. Always recommending new beers based on certain flavors I enjoyed in previous beers.

Follow them on Facebook as they usually post the rare shipments there. Just picked up some Barrel Aged Bigfoot today which they didn't post, so you never know what they will have that they haven't announced on social media.

They have a great selection of sours and belgians in the back corner right along side a superb selection of 22oz and 12oz beers from around the US.

Definitely my favorite liquor store in the area.

This is a small but very nice beer and wine store (they also have cheese and other foodstuffs). Beer selection is great, they have lots of local brews as well as beer from good breweries around the world (at least those that can be gotten)

The staff is super friendly and are always roaming the store to make sure you can find what you are looking for. They have a beer club that does not have discounts but rather it pouts your name on a mail list so that if a rare or limited release beer comes available you can get them to hold a bottle for you so you can pick it up.

After reading these old reviews I think it's time for a fresh take.

First off, I almost never buy cold beer. I go straight to 750ml bottles and belgiums. But for a specialty shop the cold selection is varying with local favorites to belgiums I'd normally never find in s cooler.

Prices tend to run a buck or even more cheaper than my main store (Marty's - it's literally 3 minutes from my house). The Rochefort 10 is $6.50 and it is a steal!

The staff is on top of their game knowledge wise although truth be told I'm not one to press for info as I usually know what I'm after.

What is killer about these guys is their craft beer email list for rare stuff that doesn't make the shelves. It pains me to even write about it because I'd rather word not get out. I was able to secure a Rare Bourbon County Stout and an Old Stock 2009 cellar. Super impressive. They are slaying it!

Poor Ball Square Fine Wines & Liquors...they could be so much more if they actually knew about the beer they were selling. I've been visiting this place for quite some time and although they have a good selection (average for the area when compared with Liquor World and Downtown W&S)the knowledge and passion just isn't there.
I've seen the wine folks talk to customers in depth about what they have on the shelves and you can tell they really know the product. In complete contrast, every time I attempt to talk to the little hairy kid that runs the beer dept. I leave feeling like my beer I.Q. had dropped 100 points. It's quite obvious from the conversations I've had and heard that he doesn't drink or like beer. He can't describe the beers he has on his shelves and shows no passion or excitement when it comes to getting customers to try new things. The last time I was there I left cringing after her tried to tell me that OPA OPA growlers where the best thing in his shop.

They have a good selection (not as good as other's in the area) without the knowledge to back it up.
