color is of powdered ice tea this beer has a nice dried fruit armoa especially raisins. its funny but a russian beer reminds me of irish soda bread with raisins. a inviting aroma for those cold russian summer nights.taste is simple, touch of fruit, touch of tea bit grainy in the mouth, definitly a cold climate beer, the aftertaste is very subtle but has a lasting effect. a good beer with dinner if you just need something to help wash down the food. i'd much rather enjoy this beer while camping in the fall and eating some stew out of a can.

500 ml brown bottle. Production date: 7/12/2013. Best before date: 7/12/2014 (oh, oh).

A: Pours a clear dark amber/light brown with a half-inch thick white head which fades to the rim and leaves splotchy lace.

N: Caramel malts, slight roast, earthy and yeasty.

T: Dried raisins and figs, light caramel, mildly sweet malts, aged wood.

M: Semi-moderate body and semi-medium carbonation. Finishes with caramel malts and yeast.

O: Won't be having this again. Although I did drink this after the best before date.

Bought at Assi Plaza in Atlanta, GA.

Appearance 3.5: Poured out a lovely, translucent, dark brown. Nice, inch-high head faded to a thin but sturdy head that lasted the entire session. Decent lacing.

Smell 3.75: Very nice bouquet. Smells of deep malt, barley and a slight smokiness. Also, nice hints of marshmallow and caramel.

Taste 3.5: Front is slightly sweet, but balanced. Middle is somewhat dry, but is balanced by very pleasant and semi-sweet waves of barley malt and hints of caramel. Finish is smooth, light and refreshing with tastes of dark brown sugar, grains and a very slight hoppiness. Aftertaste is very nice: dry, balanced with a final taste of barley.

Mouthfeel 3.75: Clean, balanced...great complement to the brew.

Overall 3.75: A surprise and a good beer. Would be a great complement to almost any food. While a bit on the sweet side, it is smooth and balanced. Definitely worth a try if you find it.
