The picture, with the red foil and label, is how I will always remember this beer. With # 9, I said that I felt that they make better products and this one is the prime example. When I was in school in PGH, we used to frequent the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern and this was one of the best bargains in the cooler. Many a Baltika # 9 was purchased for take-away.
From the bottle: "Porter Baltika is brewed according to the traditional recipe from high quality caramel malt. A beer with a taste for true connoisseurs[,] this beer is brewed specially for you. [undersigned] The President of Baltika Brewery[,] T. K. Bolloev".
It poured with a finger's worth of thick, deep-tan head with decent retention. The color was a deep, dark brown with ruby highlights. The nose had a cocoa, chocolate, roasty aspect to it, making my mouth water in anticipation. The mouthfeel was medium with a boatload of chocolate and dried fruit flavors, like raisins and prunes on the palate. The finish was pleasantly sweet, chocolaty, raisiny, and downright delicious. Given its price, this is a true bargain and one that is worth seeking out. More, more, more!

Poured the color of coffee and looked black in the glass. There was no back lighting so couldn’t tell anything else.
The head was tan but didn’t leave lacing.
The taste was good, had some coffee and chocolate and more dark fruit flavors than I normally get in this style.
The feel is a nice balance of lager thin and non Baltic porters - makes for easy quaffing.
OA, a good beer and if it wasn’t from a pariah country, I would likely buy one again.

Found in a Jon's in Burbank. Nice niche porter in the middle of the valley.
Pours pretty black and yet has a clearness around the edges that looks like cola. Minimal ring of head around the edge of the glass.
Aroma is stone fruit, malt, cherry, bit of sweaty leather. Sip is thin syrup, chocolate, anise, dead yeast, no kidding potato and sweet beets. There's a graininess that I'm attributing to borsch. Not getting the toffee others note unless it's the cheap stuff in CVS. This has a mouth feel of thin stout (as most porters do), with a grainy end, you can tell by my description this is a bit rough but goes down smooth enough. 7% is completely hidden, not hot or burny.
Interesting porter with more rough edge than some overly sweet variants. Plus, now I've checked off Russia in my "countries you've had beers from"!

Ebony with a 1/2" tan head, which lasts. moderate lacing.
Aroma is a bit muted: Coffee, roast malt.
Taste is caramel, coffee, toffee, roast malt, a bit of sweetness.
Full body, light carbonation. Semisweet finish.
Outstanding Baltic Porter.

Caramel, chocolate, and roast on the taste buds. Medium mouthfeel. Caramel and toffee on the nose with a slight coffee note. 0.5 liter bottle. Served in the bottle at a Russian restaurant in St Paul, MN.

500 ml bottle, from Løvbjerg, Ikast. ABV is 7.0%. Black colour, ruby in the highlights. Large beige head. The aroma is bready and moderately roasty, some fruity hints too. Pleasant and smooth flavour of moderately roasted malts, black bread, mild coffee, chocolate and caramel, but not too sweet. Very moderate hops. A beer I might well buy again.
