Left in my basement by some wag after a summertime tasting; I don’t remember ever seeing this in a store. Maybe I just wasn’t looking in the right place. 500ML bottle split with my wife.

The pour is cast-iron black, slight carbonation. Smell is notes of big chocolate & little roast. Nothing unique, but I wouldn’t kick it out of bed for eating crackers.

Baltika #6 Porter is as bitter as a women asked to get out & push in the middle of an epic snowstorm (long story, but a good one!). Harsh roast defines the taste, with the nose-brash chocolate relegated to a distant memory. Touch of sweetness in the middle. As it warms, it morphs from pretty good to less than desirable due to an odd tang right at the end. If not for that, this would be nice, drinkable porter.

My advice: drink this beer cold, like a Mich Golden Light. Once the tastes all gather around the fire, it’s barely fit for Jaimie Lannister’s table.

I'm beginning to try more foreign beers, and I can get this one very easily because of the large Russian community nearby. It's not quite as good as many craft breweries' porter, but it's not bad at all, and I'd get it again when I'm in the mood for a porter with my Russian food.

Pours out to a tremendous tawny head and very dark brown color. Aroma is smoky, roasty and malty. Flavor is a lagery, steely-clean yet roasty mix with a mocha finish. Mouthfeel is medium-full and creamy. Very good porter.

16 oz bottle poured looking like Coca-cola, about the same carbonation, and no lacing left on the glass. Smells weakly of molasses and roasted malts, some yeast. Sweet tasting, almost like a milk stout. Light to medium body, watery mouthfeel. It's 7% abv is hidden nicely in the smooth taste but overall is a boring beer--- it is cheap so it has that going for it.
