Off tap this beer was a clear, amber color with two fingers of pale khaki-colored head. The retention of the fluffy cap was so-so but it did leave lacing in broken bands. The aroma was of grapefruit zest and distinctly floral hops. The flavors were similar to an American IPA but not quite as bold. Though the floral hops were still present I also tasted green grassy hops, some citrus zest which gave it a bit of a tang followed by the malt core that had notes of oiled leather and wood. The finish was quick and a bit twiggy/herbal from the hops. The mouthfeel was creamy, the body medium and the carbonation a bit too high/prickly.

The Hop Mountain from Old Dominion is a GOOD pale ale. This pale ale is more English style leaning...but very tasty. The beer poured a nic clear amber with thin white head that is leaving a fine lace. The acent carries fresh hop with a slight citrus flare. The taste is a nicely balanced beer between sweet malt and bitter, with slight citrus, hop. The mouthfeel is between light and medoum body with good carbonation. Overall this is a solid offering from old dominion....nice job!
