Had this on tap at the Old Dominion Brewpub is Ashburn Virginia. This came out a deep copper color with a small foamy beige head. It left a bit of lace sticking to the glass as it was consumed. Pretty mild aroma with a bit of hop upfront and a strong caramel malt presence. The taste is similar in that the sweet caramel malt is back by a slightly bitter bop finish. Mouthfeel was adequate and this went down smoothly. A good session beer that is fairly simple in aroma and taste but enjoyable none the less.

Served in a shaker pint glass at Paolo's Ristorante (Washington, DC).
Wow, I somehow found my notes on this brew from back in April of 2010. Go figure. Anyway, it pours a clear copper-amber topped by a finger of cream foam. The nose comprises caramel, light grass, light greens, and light orange peel. The taste brings in more of the same, with the hops bringing in a decent amount of bitterness (without being too harsh about it). The body is a rather light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a kinda dry finish. Overall, a nice amber, one that goes well with a good pizza.

From their brewpub tap. Clear dark copper covered by a thick, sticky head that leaves lace. Herbal and earthy hop nose accompanied by light lovibond caramel malt and mellow biscuit. Tame in aroma. Slightly spicy hops upfront are followed by lightly toasty dextrin malt and light caramel sweetness. Mild hop bitterness leaves a sweetish balance. Becomes mildly earthy and very bready in the finish. Moderate in body, with an agreeably dextrinous mouthfeel. J. Paul is an innocuous, slightly sweet amber with an herbal hop profile. Quaffable, balanced, but perhaps the most lackluster of Dominion's ales. Tasty.

Copperish light amber with a full beige head. Good carbonation but leaves little lace. Nice malt aroma and flavor with great balance and light hoppiness in both regards. Light-Medium bodied and smooth.
A nice session-style Irish-style Amber ale.
