Appearance: amber orange in color with a thin head. Decent lacing painted the glass.

Smell: malt sweetness is nice but mild. Little else detected.

Taste: caramel, some mild bitterness, and a hint of earthiness and fruit sweetness towards the finish makes up a straight forward beer.

Mouthfeel: crisp at the start, smoother at the finish. Aftertaste is brief. Medium bodied.

Drinkability: easy to drink beer here. This is a decent option when looking for an oktoberfest style. This one was nice and fresh on tap.

Thanks JB
Softer aroma and toasty. Malts dominate and fairly simple.
Head is minimal upon pouring and quickly scatters to a ring and a smear. Orangish copper and brilliantly clear. Some bubbles rising.
Malt flavors with a tangy bitterness which moves to a gradually rising dryness that doesn't seem to grow beyond a medium point, but lasts a good long while. Nice sweetness up front, but not that sweet beyond that point.
Nice moderate feel with a full carbonation that doesn't feel excessive, rather adds enjoyability. Thirst quenching, somehow.
Highly drinkable and sips leave one wanting more.

More drinkable than I expected. A smooth malty flavor. Slight sweetness. Low hoppiness. A mild yeasty scent. My first Octoberfest of the season, so maybe I am being more generous in my review because of this. A pleasant drink.
Had to get a six pack while on vacation...Old Dominion is not available in NJ yet.
I was in Rebohoth, saw Dogfish and Evolution on tap everywhere, but not this brand. Wonder why.

This year’s version features a much more heavily toasted malt character than in past vintages. In fact, the palate has almost smokey character. Sure there are nice hints of caramel and grain, but the slightly smokey, deeply toasted malt is the real star of this brew.

Dominion always manages to produce an above-average and enjoyably drinkable Octoberfest, and with the mild but unexpected smokiness, this year’s version is no exception.

Clear garnet hue. Lean, vanilla white head yields loose, meandering lace. Soft, toasted malt with a dark toffee edge. Herbal Hallertauer twang along with hints of caramelized nuts and buttery malt. Well rounded aromawise. Flavorwise, medium lovibond caramel malt with toasty Vienna base forms a strudy, but tame malt backbone. Understated, nutty melanoidin undertone. Functional, stately hop bitterness balances residual sweetness and lends overll dryness. Sweetly herbal, slightly grassy hop flavor. Lightly bodied and brisk, but appropriately so considering the gently malt character. Buttery toast notes surface as the beer warms. Clean, nearly immaculate flavor profile. Finishes dry, with fleeting simple caramel sweetness. A tasty, balanced, but perhaps overly simple fest. Highly drinkable and very well crafted, regardless.

This brew pours with a deep amber color and some light copper highlights. Small tan head that had a little bit of retention and followed by a bit of lacing

Aroma invites the nose to a decent array of smells. Up front there is a bit of a floral and almost caramel smell. The middle has a strong touch of toffe and roasted malts. The aroma finishes with nice bread and fruit smell. Everything people look for in an Märzen/Oktoberest.

The taste of this brew follows up pretty well with the aroma. There is a bit of the floral and caramel up front. The malts and toffee are hinted in there as well and it finishes with a wonderful bready/fruit, almost boozy ending. Very good

The brew has a medium body. Its fairly creamy and delicate. There is a bit of a bitterness that hangs on as you drink this brew...its a very good brews

Drinkabilitiy is very easy on this one. The flavors are right on and it gives you a great warming feeling inside. Just like a true fall Oktoberfest should. Another great brew by Dominion.

A - Poured a hazy copper with floating sediment. Head quickly died.
S - Dominating sweetness, bready
T - Sweet bready malts up front. Some vanilla too. There was a very slight hop bitterness at the finish that bites the palette.
M - Medium not difficult to drink
O- A pretty good o-fest beer, but leans on the sweeter side, so it may not be for everyone.

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a beautiful golden-copper, amber color with a half of a finger of white head that quickly dissolved into a thin halo of foam that gripped the sides of the glass

Aroma: Very malty and very bready, like freshly baked sourdough or French baguettes. I get notes of black pepper, and caramel, as well as floral notes of clover and honey.

Taste: Very similar to the beer’s aroma. Very malty and bready up front, with notes of black pepper, caramel, salted butter, honey, all beautifully balanced with some hoppy bitterness at the finish. Delicious!

Mouthfeel: Medium and creamy with some good carbonation to tickle the taste buds. With an ABV of 5.8%, there is no presence of alcohol on the palate.

Overall: This is an excellent American version of an Oktoberfest beer. Beautifully crafted, beautifully balanced, beautifully flavored, this is one of my favorite Oktoberfest beers. I love it!

date reviewed: 31 January 2013...
glassware: standard pilsner...
occasion: last 30 Rock ever...cannot quantify the sadness...
appearance: ambitiously bubbling copper body with a thcik, fluffy off-white head--sediment seems present...
aroma: pleasantly malty; sharply incisive at the throat--not a boring stand-still lager....
palate: short notes: mellow and smooth, nice a nice cigar...
taste: pearish, fruity, and surprisingly complex....some of it works, some of it trifles...
overall: a pleasant beer to experience and revisit--quite a sessionable drink...

Pours a clear stale orange/bronze mixture decent cream colored head falls fast where is my lace?

Aroma is malty some toasted caramel malt mixed with bready malt light citrus/spicey type hops herbal mixed with light grapefruit.

Taste is malty light strange almost vinegar like flavor for a second not bad but different. Finish is lingering malt and good supply of hops for a Oktoberfest again the grapefruit mixed with herbal hops and some light nuttiness from the toasted caramel malt.

Mouthfeel is little lighter then medium the nice carbonation adds to the flavor and spice in this one.

Drinkability is good, little more hops then most oktoberfest which is not bad.

Solid marzen. Wish they were still Virginia owned... but I can't hold that against this beer. Tastes like it should, according to style guides, though didn't blow me out of the water. Would buy again.

A - Pours a dark amber color with no foam, only a layer of small bubble around the glass

S - Light malt aroma with a bit of honey and some spice

T - caramel malts and a bit of hop in the finish

M/D - medium easy drinking Oktoberfest that was a nice brew. Its right in the middle when it comes to my choice for an Oktoberfest.
