A: Poured from the bottle into a Duvel tulip. Body is hazy orangey-amber with a 1-finger off-white head. Some good splotchy lace.
S: Juicy citrus over cereal grains.
T: Citrusy - think oranges and lemons - over sweet caramel malt. Quite sweet, actually, though it finishes with a lingering bitterness that fights the sweetness for dominance in the aftertaste, with the sweetness ultimately prevailing. Some sort of earthy spiciness is present too, along with alcohol at the finish.
M: A bit thinner than expected. Call it medium in heft, but it feels a little weaker. Carbonation is quite low, leaving it with a juicy, slick feel.
O: OK. Reminds me more of an American Barleywine with all that sweetness and the clearly-noted alcohol.

Not really my kind of Double IPA. To sweet and no balance. I can't even find any hop flavor at all. The only saving grace is that the bar I am at serves it in a 16oz pint glass. That is all I have to say and why do these things have to be so damn long.

Served in a snifter.
Appearance: Dark amber gold color that is very transparent. Heavy bubbles creating a white head rising maybe to about one finger's length.
Smell: Light citrus and that's it.
Taste: Bitter and a little sour, feels biting into a mellow grapefruit while still leaving the skin on. Hoppy but not too bitter.
Mouth: Lacks that after-taste you crave. Chewy, and slight sour finish.
Overall: Average at best DIPA,I have and you have had better. Doesn't do much to surprise the palates. It's a little in flavor but strong in alcohol giving you a slight buzz. There's definitely room for improvement. Grab a glass and have a taste....salud!
