Nice appearance in the glass. Thick and luscious. Big head, lots of tiny foamy bubbles, good lacing all the way down. Pleasant espresso coffee ground flavor, but just a little chalky for my taste. Not a bad example of the style, but somewhat pedestrian from my perspective.

A - Pitch black with just over a finger of a rich brown fizzy head, a few tangents of tight smaller lacing.
S - This is what I dont get, there's not a powerful aroma here to start things off well. A little smokey and sweet toffee malt, some lighter graininess, medium scents of roasted coffee.
T - Fortunately the taste picks up things a bit. A smooth blend of mild roasted coffee and espresso with a rich toffee malt, some nuttiness to it, a touch of caramel and vanilla.
M - Not super thick, but chewy, and definitely some alcohol burn, slightly creamy and smooth.
O - I wouldnt drink this if you get heartburn, I mean this is burning me up pretty decent, and I hardly ever get these side effects, but for what it is, its a great coffee beer infusion, the flavors aren't at their peak, but they're very smooth and rich. Would gladly partake of again.

Picked this up mainly because dat bottle art. Poured into a bell tulip (as I regrettably don't have an OD glass as of yet), dark black with a creamy cap of tan head that retained as a thick ring and livened up with a quick swirl; nice lacing. Room temperature. Nose was more muted than I'd have expected, but still nice. Roasty aroma, coffee and dark malts, with a subtle touch of fruity esters, almost like Belgian yeast. Good roasty taste, dark malts, caramel, espresso, smooth but not too strong, bittersweet cocoa, mild sweet/fruity undertones, with just a hint of neutral alcohol...about right for a 9% brew. Body was on the fuller side of medium, mouthfeel was smooth, but not really what I'd call thick for the style. A good beer overall.

A: faintly red, the next best to pitch black; brown beige head fading to substantial surface covering; intricate spidery lacing
S: woody, espresso, chocolate, slightly metallic, slightly syrupy
T: bitter, strong alcohol presence well-masked by the woody espresso
M: medium-bodied for a stout, alcoholic bite
O: A bit hollow for a stout, with an odd metallic nose. Quite decent.

jet black, with thin off-white head that fades to just a ring around the glass. smells like black coffee. taste is bitter roasty coffee flavor, a touch acidic and ashy. slick, a bit oily mouthfeel. moderate carbonation.
overall - the coffee flavor is a bit too sharp and bitter. wouldn't seek out again.
