A traditional dark English Mild. The term mild meaning “not bitter” does not refer to strength. Using pure natural spring water, New Zealand hops and imported specialty malts. Giving rich malt and light nut aromas and mellow malt and good hop notes to the palate. A smooth and easy drinkable ale.

473ml can into goblet. best before 27 08 2015. enjoyed on may 19, 2015

a: a nice chestnut-ruby colour topped with a finger of quickly-dissipating tan head

s: milk chocolate-covered raisins, plums/prunes, figs, slight cherry and caramel, a touch of vanilla. dominant fruity sweetness. smells good!

t: up front are figs and cherries mingling well with sweet but light chocolatey caramel. mid-palate has a subdued nutty toasted bread character, and a note of vanilla. finishes with a mild bitterness

m: light but not watery. medium-minus carbonation

o: malt and not much else in this beer, but it's really tasty

Neustadt Brewery’s 10W30 Malty Grain Premium Dark Ale. 5.5% alc.

The beer has a beige head that is quite frothy. The colour of the beer is dark brown. The smell is toasted malt, a sweetness, some brown bread, too. The taste is similar to the aroma and there is a slight nut character at play, as well as some bitterness.

The body is medium and the finish is wet and smooth.

This is a delicious beer. Perfect for a fall or winter afternoon. It would pair well with stews or grilled steak.

LOOK: The beer has a dark brown body that is reminiscent of dark molasses. Given the darkness of the beer's body, one cannot see through it. The beer's carbonation produces a one-finger head that has the colour of sand. Moreover, the latter ends up being a thin layer with a few small holes. This means the head is resilient.

SMELL: The beer produced a grainy smell reminiscent of cereals and even cooked bread. There was a mild note of malt.

TASTE: The beer has notes of cereals, cooked bread and hot caramel. It has a hint of vanilla, nuts and coffee in the background. The hops' bitterness is mild. Moreover, do not expect a taste of milky chocolate, which is not meant to be a reproach.

FEEL: Like any brown ales or its other variations, this beer has carbonation. Thanks to the malt, the latter does not end up giving the impression we are tasting carbonated spring water. Because of the subtle carbonation, the beer has a creamy texture. It even covers one's tongue and leaves a medium-bodied feeling.

OVERALL: Although I am not a fan of brown ales or dark mild ales, I would go back to this beer for sure! I loved it for its simplicity.

Thoroughly enjoyed this brew. First time trying Neustadt. Found his brew to be full bodied and amazingly refreshing. Didn't find this to be super malty nor chocolate-tasting. Canned from the LCBO, highly recommended.

I've never been a fan of brown ales, they are typically one of my least favorite styles of beer. Having said that, the first time I tried 10w30, I will never forget it, and it has always been one of my go to beers since my first sip. It is very, VERY malt-driven, has rich molasses notes, and a nice level of sweetness.

From can to glass, its dark clear amber to nearly brown. a finger of tan head settles quickly to foamy covering.

The malts are dark, pumpernickel bread, toasty, and mild molasses.

Big dark rye malt profile, whole grain bread, toasted bread. Earthy and herby hops bring a mild bitterness at the finish to help dry it out. Nicely carbonated with a bit of warming, body holds up.

Nice malt rich dark ale with good toasty character. not overly complex but no weak points. Very enjoyable and drinkable.

This is a "no harm, no foul" type of beer. Refreshing, relatively tasty, although a bit mild. You won't regret having one but you will not purposely seek one out either.

A proper dark session. Malty and chocolatey, with a very light and crisp mouthfeel for a dark. Incredibly easy to drink.
I have them deliver 20L kegs to my house.

Malty is the word used by Neustadt that highlights this offering. And its low carbonation is a distinguishing trait. Mild, not risky, is how its taste strikes me. As a brown ale, it's worth a try.
