This beer is slightly cloudy and pours to a nice tan/orange color with plenty of foam and a floral/citrus/pine aroma that is certainly enticing.

The taste of this IPA is definitely hoppy and citrus- like but it isn’t as aggressive as some of the BIG IPA made by other brewers. Aside from the hops, there is a slight honey taste and some caramel malt. The beer finishes with a lingering peppery hop taste that lasts and lasts.

Pyramid Thunderhead IPA is a beer with a small attitude for an IPA. It keeps things on a safe level, not allowing the hops to drown the taste with spiciness but also keeping the hop level high enough to qualify as a good IPA. I don’t rank it among the great examples of the style, but it is a good session beer and it provides just enough hops to satisfy the never- ending cravings of hopheads like myself.

This beer has a fresh crisp mouthfeel, with a long lingering backtaste of fresh green tasting citrusy hops. It is pleasant on the front taste, and memorable on the backside of the draught. A nice inbetween ipa between your session beer and an imperial. Very drinkable, and requests that you sip, due to its long lasting aftertaste, and significant abc. This beer is right up there with Sierra Nevada Torpedo, slightly sweeter, and only a photo finish behind.

Qualifies as an IPA, but struggles to keep up with the numerous excellent IPA's in the PNW. A dry bitter finish and starts well just just does not hold up well. A caramel malt perhaps. Don't give up Pyramid has some other better brews for sure, recently took a Seattle Road Dog Brewery tour and Pyramid was one of them.
