Bottle that was part of a mixed sixer, served in a pint glass. Short brown bottle with colorful label. "Apricot Flavored Ale" on the bottle, makes me wonder if there is apricot flavor added after or during the brewing process.
Appearance: Cloudy golden-straw color with orange tones deeper in the glass. Small foamy head, dissipated quickly.
Smell: Definite smell of apricots, but also a slight cooked vegetable smell.
Taste: Much like the smell, apricot taste in the front, cooked vegetables in the middle, apricot again on the aftertaste. The apricot taste is fairly mild, but strong enough to make me think that the apricot flavoring is added after the brewing process.
Mouthfeel: About average. Not too watery, has a little substance too it, not too fizzy, not too flat or thin.
Drinkability: I think the girlfriend wouldn't mind drinking a few of these and it might be a nice change of pace on a hot day, but I can't see pounding a bunch of them.
Overall this one's about average. Not great, but not bad at all. I would give this one to people who aren't really in to beer in the hopes of turning them on to other micros. I'd say it's better than Pete's Strawberry Blonde, not quite as good as Sam Adam's Cherry Wheat.
