Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a short white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains light caramelized malts, grain and a good amount of hops.

T: The taste starts out very bready with flavors of grain and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. Then there’s some malt sweetness that comes in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and creates a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bready.

M: Crisp and smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean and dry.

O: A little tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, it’s a decent beer but there are options within the style.

09/02/13 On tap at Rattle n Hum, NYC. Not as light as I know Kolschs to be, but worth a try.

22 oz bottle consumed on the banks of Oregon’s McKenzie River. No date found.

Appearance: clear medium-light amber with a semi-durable, off-white head. Limited spotty lacing.
Aroma: faint and mild herbal/floral hops with a good bit of biscuit malts.
Flavor: Low hop intensity in this ale. Rather low malt load too. Mild bitterness.
Feel: Lively medium carbonation. Near medium body.
O: decent but unexceptional light pale ale.
