Goodwood Bourbon Barrel Stout is an homage to Kentucky’s proud distilling legacy – brewed with the same limestone water as its namesake whiskey and patiently seasoned in bourbon barrels. This silky American stout has notes of oak, dark roasted malts and, of course, bourbon. Roasted barley produces chocolate and coffee flavors with a lasting vanilla finish.

Appearance: Gentle pour from a 12oz can. Dark brown, almost black, with 1cm of chocolatey brown head into a goblet glass. Foam went away quickly bet left some lacing.
Aroma: Roasted malt, alcohol, licorice.
Taste: Very malty. The bitterness of black coffee, offset and slightly thickened by cream. A tiny bit of bitter chocolate. What little bourbon exists is not dominant, but not absent either.
Feel: Good carbonation with a heavy body that matches the style.
Overall: Not bad. A little more bourbon flavor would have helped it live up to its name.
Pairing: Paired well with medium rare filet mignon, potatoes, and asparagus, mushrooms.

You taste the bourbon barrel. Drank It at a bar and it was moderately priced, so I'm curious as to the six pack store price.
I enjoy bourbon stouts, but the upcharge on bourbon barrel aging makes me cringe at the checkout. I like a good bang for the buck and this might fit the bill.

Draft at brewery. Dark brown, filmy head, ring of bubbles. Aroma is roast malts, light sweet notes. Taste adds light woody notes and very faint bourbon. More normal stout flavors than BBA.

12 ounce can in a stemmed stout glass.
Very deep dark brown color. The pour, at 55 degrees, results in a tall dark tan cap. The cap tapers to a 1f fluff, light on the lacing.
Clean soft aromas; dark roasted malt, fresh aquifer water, bourbon, wood, and light alcohol.
Coffee, chocolate, and bourbon flavors are there. None of which are dominant, a balanced blend. Vanilla and oak.
Body leans a bit light for an 8% abv, feel and bourbon are mellow. Goes down smooth.
Definitely not an over the top BBA stout, but better than its 3.4 rating average.

Wow, this is a keeper. I like the color, the small is a bit lacking but overall the taste and mouth feel make up for that. Motor oil stout little, bourbon bite but not overpowering just enough to add to the chocolate and coffee notes

12oz can into snifter
L- Brownish pour with little head, nice contrasting white that disappeared almost immediately. Still manages some lacing
S- Good, nothing of note. Light, slightly sweet wood/bourbon hint
T- Reminds me of a light Imperial Stout, not in a bad way, just not as heavy and thick as I'm used to. Nice light bourbon touch without any alcohol taste, more sweet than roast
F- Cool and light, smoothness that doesn't seem to linger around.
O- Not bad but probably wouldn't make my normal rotation.

Poured hard from a can into a snifter glass, forming a couple fingers of frothy tan head that slowly faded to a bit of lacing. Deep brown color. Smells malty with a hint of alcohol/bourbon. Taste is similar with malt forward followed by some bourbon flavor. Light/medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Nice combination of malty stout and bourbon, but not amazing.

L: Pitch black evil, a one finger tan head, fading quickly to a patchy cap and near-zero lace.
S: A bit tinny, dark roasted malts, but smooth like its on nitro, leather, and touches of smooth coffee and vanilla.
T: Follows nose with more roast, leather, and oaky bourbon vanilla. Dry.
F: thin moderate high carbonation, nitro-like smoothness.
O: Expect more coffee on a stout like this one. It has some good things going for it, but it’s weight and carbonation is more typical of a dark ale.

I was pleasantly surprised; a chocolaty taste without being a dessert beer...
Great looking black liquid with a frothy thick head. The smell was an almost perfect blend of chocolate and bourbon, sweet yet not overly sweet and satisfying to the olfactory system. Mouthfeel was medium-bodied, creamy, and lightly carbonated. The taste is mild on the bourbon, also mild on the chocolate, but very malty and got more so as it warmed. Overall, this was a good offering, full of surprises, and it will keep me looking for more from this brewer moving forward.

Pours dark as expected. Decent stout. Don’t get much bourbon off it.
