12 oz. bottle, bought at Hi-Times, never seen it here in CA before, so I thought I'd try it out.

A: Pours a clear yellow, with a firm white head with good retention, no lacing though.

S: Light, but with some bready malt and corn.

T: Bready malt up front, with clear grassy hops to back it up, with a hint of corn sweetness, similar to PBR, nowhere near the amount of corn in something like Corona or MGD.

M: Good crisp carbonation makes this beer easy to drink and refreshing, pretty well done.

D: Not a bad beer at all, one of the better macros I have had, would be a good choice in the summertime.

Bottle at Analogue, companion to their excellent cajun food.

Pours a pale orange gold, thin limp cluster of bubbles on the surface and clinging to the glass. No lace or head. Seems pretty well carbonated.

Aroma is nondescript, slightly sweet and crackery, touches of honey graham cracker.

Taste is bland, seltzer and crackers. Feel is limp and watery, it sort of fizzles out mid-palate with ebbing carbonation and a slight residual slickness. Overall it's not something to seek out, more of a novelty knowing the brewery's history. Minhas isn't the best choice for a contract brewer for anybody though.

Man! I used to love this Dixie Beer! It's kinda weird to me now. Don't get me wrong, it is good. I just wish it was a bit better. It most likely has to do with the fact that it is not made in Louisiana anymore. Bummer. Anyway, it's a good beer to get when sitting outside on a nice day, sitting inside on a bad weather day, beachin' it with babes, eating gumbo, eating mudbugs, eating fried chicken, walking through the woods, fishing in a secret fishing hole, driving a tractor, listening to Taj Mahal, or really anything else. Get yer Dixie on!

12oz longneck
A) Pours with a finger thick head - white, tight, small bubbles. Slightly haze to the body. Straw colored. Semi-sticky lacing on the drink down.
S) Floral notes. Hints of peach.
T) Sweet malts up front, but slightly fruity. Hints of vanilla. Starts sweet finishes sweet. Subtle vegetal notes in the finish.
M) Light body. Clean. Creamy.
O) I believe my rating will be an anomaly, but a rather tasty adjunct lager. I would drink another.

12oz bottle, at Pizza Brew in Calgary.

This beer pours a somewhat hazy, medium golden yellow colour, with one finger of weakly foamy, and mostly bubbly dirty white head, which leaves a few specks of islet lace around the glass as it quickly burns off.

It smells of rancid butter, turned corn mush, paint thinner, and little else. The taste is musty corn and rice cakes, diacetyl up the yin yang, stale yeast, a touch of plastic phenols, and a dry, non-hop oriented mustiness.

The bubbles are pretty low-key, barely registering on any level, the body medium-light in weight, and way more pithy than smooth. It finishes semi-sweet, the corniness sort of apologetic, but hardly making up for the lingering musty plastic notes.

Another Minhas contract brew, where they seemingly just rename one (I'm not about to investigate which) of their large stable of skanky adjunct lagers. This time, it appears to be one whose corners are thoroughly and duly ravaged.

Sampled tonight on 4/29/14. Found this bottle for $1.79 last week. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a pilsner flute glass.

Pours a pale straw yellow in color with about a 1/2-finger white fizzy head that settles down to just along the sides of the glass. Very little spotty lacing is seen. The aroma is of grains and sweet corn. The taste is grains upfront followed by very sweet corn flavor. Very surprised with the sweet corn taste which is different. Lots of carbonation as small streaming bubbles were rising from the bottom of the glass. Actually very easy to drink.
