Thanks to kjyost for the can!
Pours a copper color with 2-3 fingers of head leaving some lacing. The nose is primarily citrus and pine, but there is a decent wack of caramel malt. On the palate, there is a lot of sweet caramel malt and spicy, floral hops, some dry citrus and a touch of pine. Medium to medium high body and decent carbonation. Overall, this is a good IPA, but the malt backbone was a bit overpowering and comes off a bit too sweet and heavy.

Can from MLCC. From notes.

A - Poured close to amber and bright with one finger of off white head and good carbonation. Spotty lace and a half finger of retention.

S - Lot's of citrus and pine. A butterscotch note too.

T - Citrus again and milder pine. A buttery or butterscotch note is present either as a caramelized malt character or fault. I can't tell which, but it's not overly offensive.

M - Strong carbonation, medium body. Possibly overcarbonated. Good bite in the finish.

O/D - Not a bad IPA. There are a few things that seem a touch off, but otherwise it's not terrible. Good branding for the city. I think it would get tiresome after a while.

650ml bottle, the latest in Fort Garry's Brewmaster series, an obvious ode to Winnipeg's most famous intersection, and usually Canada's coldest one, if I remember my junior high school trivia.

This beer pours a cloudy, dark brassy amber hue, with three fingers of densely puffy, caked beige head, which leaves some varying vistas of sea-spray lace around the glass as it rather casually sinks out of sight.

It smells of citrus pith and wet, spicy pine needles, bready caramel malt, simmering rising yeast, and before I totally call this a Full Moon PA rip-off, a hint of grain alcohol. The taste is more orange rind and forest floor leafy bitterness, bready, somewhat pastry-like malt, warm caramel, an edgy herbal tincture essence, and a softly understated booze warming.

The bubbles are fairly sublimated, the body a sturdy medium weight, and a wee bit tacky in its otherwise workaday smoothness. It finishes off-dry, the bready, sweet biscuit malt holding tight in the face of the lingering bitter, and now familiar citrus and pine hops astringency.

Wow - a decently hoppy IPA from this less and less pedestrian brewer, who has achieved quite the makeover as of late with its Brewmaster offerings. Perhaps now we can all proclaim that there are two worthy breweries in Manitoba, eh?
