12 oz from either Hi-Time Wine or Bevmo...forget which.
<P>
Aroma is heavy peanut skin, vegetable oil and pretty dang big on chocolate aromas. You also get a healthy dose of coffee. Pretty solid smelling Brown Ale if atypical...though what is typical for a Double Brown Ale?

Body pours murky river water brown and settles a deep ruddy brown that is very close to black. The head is dark tan, a thumb thick and fades slowly.

Fairly heavy, for a brown ale, on the palate, but the fore is somewhat light on flavor...mild toasty malts, definite nuttiness...but not a high concentration. It gets more compressed throught the middle with chocolate, coffee, peanut skin and mild burnt/black chocalate notes. I really like this. It finishes with a strong dark chocolate/mint flourish. I wish this is what most Brown Ales tasted like.

Rather sweet and roasty, with a watery refreshing mouthfeel. Very big foam in the Peroni lager glass, and quite persistent. Dark brownish red in color. Plenty of sudsiness on the tongue. Aroma of toasted grain and buckwheat.

Rather sweet and malty with the nutty toffee taste. Some flavor of old coffee and burnt sugar. Something piney along with a hint of licorice and cooked wheat cereal. There is a hint of herbal hops, but mostly it's the dark coffee with a hint of burnt raisin toast.

This has that peculiar kind of sweet, medicinal bitter aftertaste that I'm not crazy about. It reminds me of Mexican malt liquor. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bine & Vine in San Diego.

poured dark brown almost black with off white head from a bomber

nose- tootsie roll, chocoalte and caramel, nuttiness, leafy hops

taste- sweet and mellow roasty malts with chocolate, coffee, hop citrus, finishes dry roasted malt with tobacco

feel- fairly thin/watery, roasty, sweet

not a bad brew, definitely enjoyable when on the mountain. could be a little more robust
