Deep burnt caramel dark brown colour. Chestnut/mildly ruddy in the light. Small little fuzz of flan coloured head that settles into a little ring with some galactic swirls.
Nose is slightly nutty (could be some suggestion, but I think it's probably real), and some rye toast and a touch of a lactose impression, though I don't think there's any actual lactose involved. Some light grassy/fruity hopping as well.
Initial blush is more dry than the nose suggested, and has some of the same woody nuttiness. The second wave comes on and morphs just slightly as the nuttiness is less dry and has more of an unroasted chestnut kind of vibe. There's some essence of chocolate, but without the depth and richness of chocolate. The nut-meat aspect carries through to the finish where some light hopping kind of blending to give it a mild finish with some faint roast and almost a light red-berry-like character.
Kind of gives the impression of just a touch of lactose, but again I don't think that's actually in there. On the drier side overall, and a nice finish that almost borders on tart (more in the way that raspberries are tart, not like wild yeast tart). Enjoyable, and unique enough not to just kind of fall through the cracks. It's one that I feel like is better than the final score suggests, but nothing really warrants adjustment.

Hey it says brown on the label, but its a porter on BA! Muh knowledge.
Pours a rich brown color, this ain't a Newcastle thin light brown, its sturdy and hey I'll give BA something, it does look porterish with its heft and lighter brown head 3/5" down. Does have that lightly nutty aroma, reminds me of that coffee with nuts in it.
Taste is better than your average brown ale, but I just don't see the heavy malt roasting indicative of a porter here, it has more of a deft hand, lighter roast, but more malt if you will. So I'm still saying brown ale. Hints of chocolate and caramel to it. But just not that bitterness and roast depth of a porter, much less an American one. The hopping is minimal unlike an American porter.
I think if you like brown ales, you should go for it. I wouldn't mind having a bottle or two on hand for those I party with who don't like sour or hoppy, but also think a super roasted sludge imperial stout is too intimidating.

Dark brown with white foam.
Light roast coffee.
Blind I would've guessed a touch of lactose. Almost no bite, not much sticks out. Touch of cocoa powder, roasted malt. Beer without flaws but nothing particularly exciting.
Pretty smooth.

Having this beer during happy hour at the hotel bar on my last evening on vacation in Indian Wells, CA before my dad and I return home to Cleveland tomorrow. Poured out of a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, this beer pours a very sark, almost black color with a tan head that’s about 2/3 of an inch when first poured. Head settles to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass along with a pretty solid film layer of surface foam that’s accompanied by some nice lacing. Aromas of roasted malts and nuttiness that has some caramel sweetness along with hints of chocolate. Has a roasted malt and nut flavor that’s folowes by some notes of caramel and chocolate sweetness along with just a hint of black coffee bitterness. The flavor profile is rounded out with a hint of earthy hop bitterness. A very well balanced flavor profile. Has a fairly crisp, just slightly prickly, smooth, lifjtbto medium bodied mouthfeel with light to slightly moderate carbonation. One of the lighter body porters I’ve certainly ever had. And that works well here I feel. Has a clean finish and mildly smooth aftertaste. Glad I got the chance to try this. Recommended by me if you get the chance to have it.

Nice dark brown with a dark reddish hue and an off white head. Smells of rich malts. Taste has some burnt nut in the malts along with some slight chocolate and hints of nuts and fruits. Mouthfeel is not bad at all. Not a bad porter at all. Nice winter brew. Prost!

March 19th, 2015 - It's porter night with Mammoth's Brewing Double Nut. I wish I was drinking this next to a fireplace at a ski chalet, but no so luck. Appreciably brown in the color, it has a thinner, velvety head, and a tangy note in the nose, the lactic tang resounding with a yogurt funk. There's also some apple pie in the aroma, with spices and sweetness. Espresso leads the way in the flavor on the foam, with a good malty bill underneath. The lighter body is excellent too, but I keep coming back to the foam too. While the flavor is unremarkable, that body is epic.
