Loved this beer when I lived in Mammoth for a winter. Best stuff around. Would kill to have a bottle or 6 in my fridge back home.

A roasty, nutty porter. Solid but, not Earth-moving. Comparable to most quality nut brown ales.

mine says 5.5%....
pours thick, dark mahogany color. head dissipates quickly on the soft pour.
aroma is sweet, nutty and toasted.
flavor is a little sweet. very nutty and a little roasted malt. caramel. molasses. thicker than some other nut browns I have been drinking recently. I like it. I like it a lot. i'd love to rate it higher for its style but in general the browns don't seem to get much respect. there are a lot of generic browns with some corn-kind of flavors but this one is a great brew. highly recommended. maybe when the "bros" rated it it was a different recipe?

Thanks to WST for this one!

Pours a dark chestnut brown that looks black, until it's sharp clarity is visible in the light. Creamy tan foam, sticky around the edges, though not much lace later on though.

Nutty, husky toasted malts in the aroma, hints of molasses.

Tastes similar, lightly roasted malts, some caramelization, though dry and chalky in the aftertaste. Supple feel, medium bodied, slightly astringent. Overall it's almost more of an imperial brown than a porter, a hybrid of the styles. Review #3600
