Pours a dark brown color and has a fairly thin off white head. The smell is sweet and vanilla chocolate with heavy roasted nut. The flavor is very nutty like roasted pistachio mild sweetness a little bitterness. The mouthfeel is very carbonated. I'm a real big fan of this beer.

The best of the mammoth beers I had. This is a chocolatey brown ale and porter middle ground that has a ton of toast and cocoa grain flavor but also a real clean finish and not much of the bitter roasted barley I expect from a porter. I don't get the name here though, nothing double about it at six percent abv. It's got some red when held to the light but looks more brown than anything else. Lots of dry cocoa malt flavor all through it and a toasted marshmallow thing too. It's rich but still real drinkable. Good early fall beer, right on for this time of year because of the denser flavor sand approachable body. Good brew all up.

Rather sweet and roasty, with a watery refreshing mouthfeel. Very big foam in the Peroni lager glass, and quite persistent. Dark brownish red in color. Plenty of sudsiness on the tongue. Aroma of toasted grain and buckwheat.

Rather sweet and malty with the nutty toffee taste. Some flavor of old coffee and burnt sugar. Something piney along with a hint of licorice and cooked wheat cereal. There is a hint of herbal hops, but mostly it's the dark coffee with a hint of burnt raisin toast.

This has that peculiar kind of sweet, medicinal bitter aftertaste that I'm not crazy about. It reminds me of Mexican malt liquor. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bine & Vine in San Diego.
