I bought beer hoping it would be a good beer.
WOW! This is a very good Quad.
It pours with good carbonation and is copper colored.
The smell is toffee, caramel, raisins, figs, bourbon qualities, and some wood.
The taste follows the smell. I poured it at 55 degrees and the flavor sweetens nicely as it warmed up. The bourbon is there, but just right.
The feel is medium bodied and coats your mouth with the sweet bourbon flavors.
Overall, this is an excellent Quadrupel and I will definitely buy another to age.
This is a must for all Quad lovers.

Nice copper color, but a little murky. Good toffee, prune, and spice flavors, but a bit too warm of an alcohol presence. A nice beer, but much more fond of their other 20th anniversary offering. Cheers!

Pours a murky copper with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, fruit, caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, fermented fruit, earth, caramel, vanilla, wood, and bourbon flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is a solid barrel aged offering, but I think this one could have benefitted from more than just six months of aging.

Serving type: bottle.

This is a tough review. If I am stuck to reviewing to a Belgian Quad style, this strays. If I'm stuck to reviewing to a barrel aged style, the barrel is very mild. The Belgian yeast influence is minimal when comparing to the likes of St Bernardus or a Rochfort. The Bourbon and barrel flavors that follow are pretty minimal also, although the oak really balances and smooths this one out and the vanilla presents itself somewhat nicely as it warms. But DAMN! This is a really good Strong Belgian Ale to say the least!

Huge on apples & plumbs. The oak influence really softens this one and it finishes so clean. Soft, yet dry making this probably the most easily drinkable 13% beer I've ever had without suffering mouthfeel. Again, front and mid palate, this one is so soft, and finishes soft, yet dry. Making this damn impressive. Amazing beer, but misses the label. Conficting review, but there's no way I could knock such a high quality big brew.
