Late summer 2014 comes at us in this review.
Standard golden/yellow color scheme, good clarity, 1/2" white head. Looks good. Moderate clove, pepper, spice rack kind of yeast aroma presence. Grain, pine trees, banana and lemon underneath that.
Taste profile seems to be driven by those same yeast notes primarily. Light malt body, seems like some two row and a smidge of lightly toasted pale malt. Bit of a bitter and boozy sting to it, amplified by the lemon notes. At 7.5% this is basically an imperial saison, and it suffers because of it. Heavily carbonated mouth feel does not alleviate the less than ideal aspects of this stylebender.
I didn't love or hate the beer (other than the 22oz bomber format). Good enough for once, but I think there are better saisons at similar prices.

Slightly hazy golden color. Aroma is yeasty and a bit astringent with light lemony notes. Taste is yeasty and a bit tart, also quite grainy. Medium body and carbonation. Not very complex but well made and the alcohol is well hidden.

Golden color; large, fluffy head. Floral / fruity smell. Some bready notes in the taste, too. Medium body. Surprisingly complex, but a little too floral for me.

Poured from a bomber bottle into a snifter.
L - Has the appearance of a classic saison. Light gold/orange color with light cloudiness. Thick, fluffy white head with lots of lacing.
S - Interesting aromas are true to saison style but with something extra. Bready malt, peppery spice, low farmhouse funk in the background. Behind all that is a sharp earthy/piney/woody note that must be from the pine this was reportedly brewed with.
T - Not much malt flavor to build on, then the peppery spice and earthy/woody pine pile right on. Those flavors seem to go well together, but are a bit jarring and "in your face".
F - Thin to medium body; medium, prickly carbonation. Medium hops bitterness is obviously there, although they do not make themselves apparent in the flavor or aroma. Alcohol presence is low for the ABV.
O - This is a well-made beer with unusual ingredients. While it's not an amazing beer, I give kudos to the brewer for an interesting, adventurous approach to a saison with local ingredients.

Looks amazing. Thick, fluffy, lingering, white head. Smells a touch cheesy. Trans-2-nonenal? Maybe a touch of diacetyl? It's almost pleasant. Definitely Belgian forward flavors. Touch of tart bubblegum, and a slight spice. This doesn't necessarily taste exactly like a saison/farmhouse. More of a Belgian style beer of some sort. Mouthfeel is slightly oily, and a touch too thin. But nonetheless this is a tasty beer.

Looks good. Amber with a fluffy head. Smells like candy orange with a bit of formaldehyde. A rancid decomposing pine finish. Kind of gross.
