On-tap @ Magnify Brewing in Fairfield, NJ.
Dark brown and somewhat murky with a creamy tan head. Dark malt aroma with chocolate, dark fruits, and a touch of coffee. Light roasted/burnt malt quality to it. Herbal hops provide nice balance. Flavor was reminiscent of an American Porter, but smoother from the wheat malt. Medium-full bodied, bitter and slightly astringent, but easy to drink regardless.

I had this on draught at the brewery. It pours and dark walnut brown with a mocha-colored head and lacing. It smells of roasted malt, chocolate, and burnt coffee, with whiffs of caramel and hops. This beer drinks like a "session porter." It opens with roasted sweet malt, followed by dark chocolate and burnt coffee grounds. It also has some vanilla/caramel sweetness and finishes with a burnt, bitter taste. It is medium-bodied, moderately carbonated, and truly sessionable with an ABV of 5%. This is an interesting beer in that it is decently bodied for its ABV. I enjoyed it and would drink it again.

Pours a dark chocolate brown color with deep mahogany edges. Opaque with a half finger off-white head that immediately dissipates into a thin ring. Poor retention, disappearing quickly with minimal spotty lacing left behind.
Sweet dark malt aroma with a decent amount of roast countered by herbal, piney hops. Espresso bean, charred toast and oatmeal followed by sweeter of caramel and light chocolate as it warms. Herbal presence is too strong for my preference, and aside from faint peppery spice, it isn't reminiscent of a wheat beer. Some clove and black pepper along with fresh cut grass and spruce tips. Subtle bubblegum/banana yeast notes. Pretty bland.
Slightly thin and watery with very sharp and unpleasant carbonation. Heavy spice and hop bitterness combating the dry roast/charred malt. More like a heavily roast schwarzbier than a wheat ale with an aggressive American hop presence. Clove and peppery spice with bitter, earthy hops. Strong herbal component once again and the malt bill is harsh and one dimensional. All dry roast with used coffee grinds and burnt toast. Severely lacking in balance. Harsh, not true to style, overly hopped and kind of gross/unpleasant.

From 02/14/16 notes. On tap at the brewery in a mason jar.
Pours a dark brown color. Taste is bitter, hoppy, some roasted malts, and burnt malts. A decent beer.
