Slight chill haze to this nearly clear, dare I say copper colored beer. Sea foamy off white head starts at about 1 finger and dissapates somewhat slowly to a patchy sheet. A few nice lines of lacing around the glass. Rounded aromas of caramel and biscuit, slightly toasted. Mild fruitiness. Not a whole lot going on aromatically, but whats there is pleasant.

Taste is a bit fuller than its aroma with more fruits coming out, letting the toastiness of the malt recede a bit. Still respectably toasty with a good bit of grainy caramel and bready malt. The fruitiness comes through over top it, combining with a floral and citrusy hop character that suits the ale just fine. Nothing crazy about the hops, but they do a good job in creating a balanced little beer. They also combine with a medium carbonation to create a bit of excitement on the palate. The hops actually even finish up a bit on the earthy side, just there in the finish and aftertaste a bit. A little thin in the mouthfeel but the carbonation makes up for it a touch. It ends up taking away from the beer a bit unfortunately, especially because the flavors are nice and rounded with a great balance.

Close to a good beer, but it settles for solid with a few things holding back, such as the lack of aromatics and the thinner body. That said, its light and refreshing and I'm enjoying the drinkability. Not a bad beer at all. Now just get rid of the twist off caps...

sampled a pint on tap at the Brazen Head in Bklyn, NY. The info board tells me this was tapped a week ago, nice, fresh beer. Arrives a shimmering shade of light golden. Sugar white head, some retention and expansive and impressive lacing, especially late. Nose is sweet malt and a tad flowery. This is a nice, smooth malty brew. Creamy mouthfeel, notes of rye, with some drying hops late. Nicely crafted and easy drinking alt. Suprised by the low ratings here, as I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

If you ask me, this is a Dusseldorf Altbier, not an Irish red. A pretty damn authentic one, too, with Caramunich malt and some wheat for balance. Gives that trademark sweet biscuity Altbier flavor, hints of brown sugar and caramel. Lots of floral hops to create bitterness and kill the sweetness upon the finish. Copper ale with medium-to-small head that vanished, good German musty nose. Tangy on the tongue and soft, excellent mouthfeel. This is a very good, well-balanced beer, with a lot going on in the flavor but also straightforward enough for easy drinkability. Definitely NOT an Irish red.

Its clear, deep amber body reveals hundreds of tiny, steadily rising bubbles beneath a thick blanket of creamy off-white foam. The head retention is excellent and it leaves some nice rings of lace. The nose delivers a bready and lightly caramelish malt with just a subtle note of fruitiness and background hops. Its firm and gently crisp in the mouth before warming to become a bit creamy and smooth. The flavor delivers a lightly toasted malt that's well-balanced by a firm bitterness and accented by subtle floral hop flavors. It finishes dry with a lingering note of caramelish biscuit and bitterness. Very well done!

Had this on tap at Buddy's in Annapolis. Not a bad beer at all, it had a small head that dissipated very quickly. Poured a strong copper color hence the name. Definitely smelled of malt, and had a very malt aftertaste. Not a bad beer at all, looking forward to more from the Fordham Brewery.

Not at all bad. I wasn't sure how it would be. Sort of had a sweet malty flavor with a bit of hop. Smelled similar to to some kinds of grass. Sort of a reddish brown color with a thin tan head. For a low alcohol content it has a good taste and I think that arguably benefits the drinkablility. A definite winner

Pours a copper orange, decent head that dissipates quickly. Smells of caramel and toffee sweetness, some white raisins, little brown sugar, figs and plums. Tastes of sweet caramel like malt with a very moderate bitterness. Finishes fairly sweet with more caramel and some dried dark fruits.

Not a bad beer, fairly one-noted, not at all like a traditional altbier. However, the sessionability on this beer is fantastic.
