Word of the beer: Classic
Pours a medium gold color with a white head. Big woop. You don't drink the look.
A very distinctive IPA aroma: that piney, citrusy characteristic that is unmistakable for a classic IPA. That promise of hop to come.
The taste is also an example of why hop heads like it so much. It has a smooth malt start but those hops bite in very quickly, just as they should. In the mouth it's just right - not too heavy, not too light. You want an IPA to be in that medium range, in my opinion.
Although it is a classic example of an IPA, this very fact has its drawbacks. It won't overwhelm you, surprise you, or underwhelm you. There are no unique flavors to make you sip again, wrinkle your brow, sip again and try to figure it out. For hop heads, this is a session beer.

A wee history lesson:
Fordham was one of Maryland's shining stars before they moved to Delaware, becoming part of Coastal Brewing Company, which also owns Old Dominion, formerly of northern Virginia. Anhauser-Busch is a minority owner, but has no input into recipes or any brewing matters of the two. AB just has a stake in distribution. Rumor is that AB may be looking to sell back its share.

The aroma is hoppy, smelling fresh and wet.
The color is golden honey. The head though small is dense and lasting. The clarity is somewhat hazy with sediment of some sort,
Taste is sweet and hoppy up front and ends dry and bitter. Hops are bold and assertive on the palate.
Drinks thin and maybe watery.
A good tasting beer here but those floating things dampens the appearance.

Served) In a snifter glass.

Appearance) Cloudy - golden/orange color, white head with a good lace.

Smell) A lot of pine, grass and grapefruit.

Taste) First is a good mixture of hops and malt. Then mostly hops at the end. Some orange, grapefruit, lemon, and pine flavors.

Mouthfeel) Medium body, slick, moderate carbonation with a little warming alcohol feeling.

Overall) Very well balance and solid IPA. Great hops bitterness with just the right malt backbone. Close to a double IPA.

Food pairing was carrot cake. The spices and the sweetness of the cream cheese icing went well with the bitter hops.

Enjoyed this 12oz bottle out of a Belgian tulip glass

A: Pours a clear light copper hue with a 3-finger, white, frothy head that slowly dissipates leaving a nice trail down the side of the glass and ending in a huge lace.

S: Malty caramel aroma with a decent earthy hop background..

T: Tastes more like a imperial ipa than a regular ipa. Equal mix of sweet malt up front followed by bitter hops. Caramel malt background with that earthy hop flavor and finishes slightly dry.

M: Medium body and carbonation

O: Decent IPA – worthy of a try.

I guess we'll call Fordham the other other brewery in DE after Dogfish and Twin Lakes. Purchased at Whole Foods, Devon and poured into Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glass. Clear orange amber color with no haze. Slightly piney smell. Very hoppy taste upfront with some lingering bitterness in the mouthfeel. Not my favorite IPA but pretty solid and a good buy given the 7.5% ABV.
