Bertram's is on Salmon's Main Street and is probably the only brewpub within at least 100 miles. Even someone looking for a local watering hole might drive right past Bertram's SV thinking that it's a wireless internet provider, as their "Free Wireless" sign if much larger than any of the writing that advertises the brewpub itself. At least I can check BA while passing through the brewpub. The brewpub is located in a narrow, almost claustrophobic space that is far longer than it is wide. The front two-thirds of the space is a restaurant and the bar is located in the dimly lit back room.
They had seven beers on tap when I visited--all the usual suspects of American and English styles (including a hefeweizen that was, unfortunately, an American wheat ale). I tried the brown (passable) and the 'hefeweizen' (not good). The food was standard pub fare, and my burger was fine except that it was way overcooked.
The friendly service was a highlight, but that won't be enough to bring me back to Bertram's again. Take a pass here and stop instead at Salmon's House of BBQ just a few storefronts away.

Bertram's is located in the small rural community of Salmon Idaho where steelhead fishing, whitewater rafting and hunting are the three main attractions. The stout beer at Bertram's is very smooth with a nutty full flavor. The highlight for me was the hazelnut beer. I will say that either you will love this beer or dislike it. Many beers out there try to immulate other beers, the hazelnut beer does not. I really enjoyed it because it has a very nutty flavor and because it is not your standard everyday beer.
Another excellent place to get different beers and excellent food in Salmon is the Junkyard Bistro. The Junkyard is trully an amazing place with shockingly great food. The menu is unlike anything you have seen and the selections of beer are worthy.
