Clear and a natural looking yellow. Beer mixed with water.

Not much. Faint beer smell.

Alright. A flash of malt then hop with the quickness.

Seltzer water carbonation.

Much better than bud or coors light. Like Miller but would buy instead since it is a smaller brewer. Alright light beer.

S: Faint aroma of grain with some sweetness.

T: Mild sweetness and grainy flavor. Has a aint bitterness and a fairly clean finish.

F: Light body, crisp & refreshing.

Not bad for a light beer. Good Summer beer for backyard activities.

CAN you believe that I am just now getting around to reviewing THIS beer? In a CAN ...

An aggressive pour produced a finger of bone-white head with low retention. Nose was very light and slightly sweet. The color was a pale straw-yellow with NE-quality clarity. The mouthfeel was somewhat thin with a mild sweetness on the tongue. Finish was equally thin with that same sweetness that just seemed to linger. Overall, it was a pretty boring beer. Oh well. Stick to Arn!

Another can of Iron city to rate from my friends trip out east.

Poured in to my pint glass the beer is crystal clear yellow. A large stark white head caps my glass then dissapates in a blink of an eye. Not that I thought there would be any but lace is not even an option.

The aroma. Who am I kidding? This beer doesn't have an aroma is has a "smell". A smell of sweet grain and corn tortilla chips.

The flavor is light for sure. More tortilla chips and a touch of hop bite.

Light body. Loads of carbonation. Dry finish.

Overall another crappy light american lager. Yawn. I'm glad my buddy thought of me and brought this home. I'm just sad he didn't grab mesomething good.

Had this on numerous occasions, but after getting it for a recent Penn State tailgate, I decided it needed a fair review.

A: Pours a pale yellow with a spritzy snow-white head. Tons of carbonation beads sprinting up the glass. Not really different from the Bud, Miller, Coors when it comes to the look. Maybe a tad darker.

S: Sweet cereal grains and rice. Very sweet and pale smelling, not much there. Not much hop presence, just plain cereal and rice.

T: Watery, light and sweet with pale grains and rice. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I would take this over Bud, Miller or Coors any day.

Overall, I may be bias being from Pittsburgh, but I think this beer is better than the BMCs. Not a good beer, but a beer that I can live with for tailgating and the like.

12 oz. can into a pint glass.

Appearance: Fizzy yellow and typical light beer specs. Not much head or lacing or any stickage going on.

Smell: Corn and adjunct sweetness with enough hops maybe to make it fairly bearable with nothing metallic or off-putting. There's just not a lot there.

Taste: Again, not much to speak of here, but nothing off-putting. A bit of sweetness and beer-flavored water taste, maybe a bit of mild hops and grain.

Mouthfeel: Actually fairly decent carbonation with a lighter bodied beer, which makes it a bit easier to drink.

Drinkability: If I drink light beer at a barbeque or someone's having a party with such a brew, it's not too bad. I'd never really buy it myself, but there are worse light beers out there. Very easy to drink and wash food down, and it's nice they actually have the calories and nutritional information on the can too, since many light beers don't.

Tall pint can poured into an Ayinger half-liter glass. An inch and a half of frothy, white head sits atop a light golden colored liquid. Head is settling down to about a quarter of an inch of covering. Looks like there is an extremely fine, dust-like sediment that is dropping down through the beer. Some cooked corn and vegetal aromas coming off this along with a light candi or sugar smell and some grain husk - eh. Maize and cooked vegetable flavor to start, followed by a slight bittering, tinny flavor, and moving into a finish that tastes like, well, water. Mouthfeel is light with a stinging carbonation. Very easy to drink, kind of in the way that water is easy to drink, maybe a touch more difficult to drink than water.

I don't think this can gave I.C. Light its best showing. I've had it on tap around Pittsburg tasting much better than this dated can did tonight.

Apperance: clear light yellow, very good head and lacing

Smell: slight skunk smell with a little bit of sweetness

Taste: like the taste not very strong ,little sweet and a very little bit of hops

Mouthfeel: Thin with a good carbonation

Drinkability: very easy to drink drank about 10 watching the super bowl , but i dont think i would go out and buy another case any time soon

I expected to be disgusted by some DMS (cooked vegetable aroma and flavor)-riden mess, but this was a decent macro light beer, all things considered. Yeah, it was pretty watery, but the mouthfeel wasn't unpleasantly dry, bitter, or astringent light most other light beers. Instead this matched a slight lemon flavor with mild bready malts. Not a lot going on, but it's a light beer, what more do you?

Had a couple of cans left from an outdoor event sponsered by my local bar. It's in WV so my only choices were Macros. Went with a light beer as it was an all day event.

12oz can served in a pub glass.Clear golden with staw-like highlights. 1' white sudsy head fizzley out quick to a slight coating with a white ring. Not much lacing, little spotting with a few bubbles rising.

Sweet malty aroma with breaddy/doughy scents.Slightly toasty with a good bit of fruityness. Clean aromas nothing offensive.

Very clean, sweet maltiness with light toastyness. Grainy/straw-like with fresh fruity tastes, slighly metallic as it warms. Finishes crisp, clean with a fruity fade.

Light mouthfeel, not watery like a lot of light macros, has a grainyness tastes like beer even has a bite to it. My choice for sessioning a light macro, blows away BMC lite beers. Rated this beer compaired to other light beers out there. Can't belive more people don't drink this one.

This was from a 12 ounce aluminum bottle. IC Light pours a clear light gold with a small white head which goes away quick. It smells like grain, corn and some sweet malt. The taste is mostly malty and grainy, with a small metallic taste too. It starts off a bit sweet and finishes a bit sour. The mouthfeel is light and watery. With that being said the drinkability is decent as the beer is non-offensive and it does go down smooth. Yeah, there are plenty of better choices out there but it's not bad on a hot summer day watching a ball game at PNC Park.

I tried this side-by-side with Iron City, both in aluminum bottles. IC Light was far worse, more corn-flavored, no malt flavor at all, completely forgettable. It was really really bad, worse than Miller lite which is my calibration for bad beers.

Don't ever try it. If you want to try a Pittsburgh macro, I recommend standard Iron City over this.

A gift from an employee after the Steelers whooped up on the Bengals. Had a note attached saying it would help soothe the pain. The can looked suspiciously like a Diet Coke with the note wrapped around the label.

Very light yellow and a small white head, that fell to a stubborn ring. Lots of active carbonation even after a few minutes. Not bad looking at all for a light lager. Smell was nondescript, consisting a watery corn, harsh odors that must be hops and a saccharine hit. Taste is rather malty for the style (or has a sweetener been added?) Watery mouthfeel, an abrupt finish, though it does dry out a bit. Really, nothing terrible, but not particularly memorable either. If someone has it at a football party, pop a can. It won't hurt you.

The beer pours a pale yellow color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is below average. It has a very faint pale malt scent with loads of adjuncts and a dry, musty lager yeast aroma. The taste is terrible. It has very watery, pale malt flavor with lots of adjuncts present. It has no hop character. It's almost like drinking seltzer water with a slight malt flavor. The mouthfeel is average. It is a low bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a below average light lager. It has little flavor and almost no malt aroma. It's one and done for me.

Appearance: Clear, pale golden color with a small white head, and surprisingly thick lacing. An occasional fat bubble quickly rises to the surface.

Aroma: Dry with a cooked corn note and grain husk.

Taste: Opens with washed out corn malt flavor, and a little alcohol, these soon fade to nothing. The finish is dominated by a harsh herbal bitterness and is fairly dry.

Mouth feel: Quite thin and insubstantial.

Drinkability/notes: Little more than carbonated water, and not good carbonated water at that.

Presentation: Packaged in a twelve ounce aluminum bottle, served in a Pilsener glass.

Iron City Light is a pale straw color. There is a 1/4" white fizzy head that dissappears right away. Some lace left on pint glass.

Grainy, sweet and slightly herbal aroma. An odd sharp smell like glue?!?

This tastes like light beer. It does have an almost pilsner-like hop quality to it. Just not much else to be dissected here.

Soft mouthfeel and definitely light. Mid-level carbonation. Dry finish. The drinkability is OK and I would prefer this over IC if forced to choose.

Here again, for a light beer, its not that bad. Infact I thought this light was better with more character and class body than its named big brother.
It poured a solid pale straw, not watery. The head was as full as you wanted without that much fizz. Lace Was spotted. The aroma was sweet, alcoholic corn and grain. I bought it for the aluminum bottle and perhaps alittle metallic comes into the taste, but it doesn't offend. The drinkability is there, and the aluminum bottle looks good too.
If the situation called, id take thisone over a Bud Light hands down. The Miller Light would make a better head to head match up with this Iron City.
Just a note; ABV is 4.15% according to Pittsburgs web site.

like most macro types, this ones basically like iron city, but watered down...alot. thus, it's better than most other macro lights, as iron city is better than most macros. this one pours a light golden colour with lots of carbonated fizz and virtually no smell or flavour. pretty standard stuff. a bit fuller than other light beers, but barely. if you've got to choose from amongst this stuff, stick with regular old iron city.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A:Clear golden color with a white head that went away quickly and left minimal lacing.

S: Corn is the dominate scent.

T: Mostly cereal in the taste with some malt upfront.

M: Great mouth feel, high carbonation and easy to drink.

O: This is a really good light lager. It was 93 cents for a 12oz bottle. If I could find this in a case locally it would probably be my go to cheap beer.

I picked this up at Giant enjoyed chilled from the 12oz brown bottle in a pils glass.

The color is a very pale and clear golden with visible carbonation rapidly ascending to a eggshell cap with fine bead and lace sticks well, the retention is decent. The smell is sweet, light and pretty mild yet not off or offensive, just faint. The feel is very seltzery and high in carbonation with some mild sweetness and clean overall feel with dry finish.

The flavor is not bad yet it does lack any real resemblance to beer since you basically get the fizziness yet a light sweetness is present on the palate with very light fruity tinge. The overall impression is nothing special to enjoy or appreciate even in the realm of light beers -it is basically a palate cleanser, would pair well with extremely spicy wings or greasy fair-food maybe.

A: Pours a golden hue with a minimal white head that quickly dissipates.

A: Pours a crystal clear light yellow in color with some moderate amounts of active visible carbonation and hints of golden yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall fizzy bright white head that reduces to a medium sized patch of very thin film and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of corn adjuncts over cereal grain malts.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of cereal malts with lightly sweet corn adjuncts. Absolutely no hint of hops and the flavor fades pretty quickly. Minimal amounts of bitterness.

M: Light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Thin/watery.

O: There is a minimal amount of flavor to this beer but it is not offensive - feels like it is a good beer for hydrating on a hot summer afternoon while working in the yard.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

"The beer you reach for when Iron City is just to heavy and calorie-laden..." This stuff pours a clear straw topped by a finger of relatively short-lived lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises corn, funky wheat, and hard water. The taste brings in more of the same, with the hard water and funky wheat really combining for some "fun" on the tongue. The body is pretty light, with a light moderate carbonation and a watery feel. Overall, a meek, character-less beer, prolly exactly what they were aiming for. Some people...

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – Pours a light golden color with a one figure pure white head. The head faded fast to leave a surprising amount of lacing for a light beer (although lacking when compared to most other brews).

Smell – Almost no aroma at all. Just a very light corn.

Taste – A light breadiness is on the tongue throughout. There is some corn upfront which fades giving way to a very light caramel sweetness. At the very end the tiniest bit of citrus seems to work its way in along with some more papery tastes as well.

Mouthfeel – A light body with a medium to high level of carbonation. Pretty standard light beer.

Overall - More flavorful the average light beer with a better look as well. If you want a light beer this is one to have from time to time.

Pale beer with a thin, soapy head that fades over 30 seconds or so. Faint, grassy aroma with a bit of fruitiness. Dry, grass flavor and not much else. Has a bit of a sugary aftertaste. IC Light isn't offensive to the palate, but it doesn't offer much either. Still, I think it tastes better than some of the more popular light lagers. I'd drink it again if it were offered to me, but it's not something I'd go out of my way to have.
