Pours an effervescent straw with 3 fingers of cream colored head. No head retention & some lacing

S: Perfumy, lemony, & soapy hops

T: Grainyness, soapyness; too much (rinsed the hell outta my pils glass)& lemons up front. Soapyness dominates until this warms way up, then herbal & lemon hops sneak through. Finishes with a whisper of honey malt, a bit of pear fruittyness & then lemony & more soapy hops.

MF: Light bodied, so-so balance, with fairly hard carbonation that softens as this warms. Okay balance

Drinks okay, my advice, let this get to ale temp before drinking. As it was it warmed up quite a bit prior to sampling. Otherwise, you got a a blah, Czech Pils here

Served cool from 500ml bottle into straight pilsner mug.

L) Light golden colour, clear, 1cm dense white head. Very fizzy. On style, if the head is a bit thin.

S) Sweetish lager malt, grassy tones. Pilsner hops not too evident.

T) Its good! The usual pilsner malt, without the 'bready' aspect. Moderate hop bitterness, and doesn't have the slightly 'meaty' flavour that Saaz hops can have.

F) Very clean mouthfeel, no bitter aftertastes. Not too fizzy. A real winner in this department.

O) One of the better Czech light lagers that I've tried, I would gladly recommend it.

Zatec.

Another gift from the neighbor. He just must not have liked these brews since he seldom gives any thing away at import level prices. A clear bottled Czech Lager? iI must say I am a bit skeptical but let's see how it has held up.

Look - Pours a bit of darker golden than your average Euro lager with a fingers worth of bubbly white head that doesn't stick around for more than seven or so seconds. Carbonation appears to be on about medium with this one, and no lacing is anywhere to be seen. 3.25

Smell - Musk straight off the bat with a surprising though welcome dosage of clean maltyness without a hint of skunk. Grass is apparent without consuming the nasal passage. 3.25.

Taste - The musk is clearly on the forefront upon the time it touches your lips. The grass fades a bit and is only noticeable if you really choose to look for it. Once again no sign of the skunk in any way, shape or form. 3.25.

Feel - Carbonation is moderate and it sits a touch watery and easy going. No frills in this category. Flavors completely turn off. 3.25.

Overall - A bit above the average . Clean and easy drinking without any of the notorious off flavors. Not too shabby at all. If the price were lower I'd drink it as a go to when I need something to wash down beerlf brisket. 3.25.

Big, earthy spicy hop aromas rise up from the glass as your pour the brilliant straw colored liquid into the glass. Its crisp and clean and bright with light grains and a pleasantly bitter hop finish. A refreshing light beer with discernable flavor.

Pint in Smith's of Smithfield, London (£4.95):
A shaky start with a poor look & weak nose but things soon picked up. Sweeter than expected but there was a good balance & it was easy to drink; a pretty nice beer but it could easily have been so much better.

Serving: 500 mL bottled poured into a stemmed Pilsener (beer tulip) glass

Appearance: Clear, deep gold with a bright, white head; modest lace.

Smell: Malty, bread and grain. Grassy, earthy and spicy hops.

Taste: Good, round malt body with spicy noble hops. Bitterness builds towards a nice crisp finish.

Mouthfeel: Moderate body with a smooth feel and moderate but gentle carbonation.

Overall: A solid Czech Pilsener with good malt and noble hops
