My bottle states that this is contract brewed for Frog Island by Stoney Creek, yet somehow ends up being listed here as a product of Michigan Brewing Company.
At any rate, onto the beer. Pours to a slightly hazy dark caramel, forming a modest light beige head with good retention and nice lacing. Not bottle conditioned. Carbonation is mild to moderate. Aroma of some fruity hops, fruity and husky amber malts, a touch of caramel and butterscotch, clean water and ferment. Aroma has a house character similar to Saranac or Rocky Raccoon (i.e-a touch of diacetyl). Mouthfeel is tangy with a round middle and medium body. Taste begins fruity and spicy from the hops, followed by a nutty middle with some tobacco, caramel, and earth in the finish. Aftertaste is herbal and the medium bittering hops still present some degree of fruitiness. Alcohol is barely noticeable as a touch of peppery bite. Cleanly fermented.
This is a good brew, but it doesn't do much for me. I wouldn't turn it down, but I wouldn't seek it out either. Tastes like any generic amber ale you would find at any generic brewpub.

Pours a very murky amber color with a medium off white head. Not too much lacing. Smell is strong on diacetyl with earthy and toffee notes. Taste begins caramel sweet and its quite sweet. Very yeasty in flavor and mouthfeel. Quite nutty. Finish has a floral type bitterness with evens out the caramel. Not too bad. Solid body and quite drinkable but nothing beyond that.

Full bodied ale, nice caramel malt profile. Well balanced between hops and malt. Medium bitterness perceived. Tastes a lot like a homebrew, yeasty, young beer, not too complex. Typical American pale ale hops used are nice, however. Very deep amber in color, no head from the tap, some lacing. Finishes nice.

Rusty amber colored liquid. Cream colored blanket of foam on top. Red cinnamon candy toned malt extract aromas are sported up with ripe cat pee. Substantial creamy texture is a benign signature of Dark Horse (yeast?). Gripping bitterness and creamy nut flavors withstand oily lemon and urine flavored top notes. Tolerable to drink.
Paint by numbers beer. The world will apparently never have enough of these.
