This pours super dark brownish red. It leaves a fluffy ring around the glass which slightly laces.

smells sweet and alcoholey. Malts are present.

The taste is thick. Alcohol prevails. Malts next. Sweet is also up front, candy sugar?

the mouthfeel is dominant with the alcohol taste and feel overwhelming the tongue. Surrounding that is a creaminess which is pretty good.

The finish is, again, alcohol dominant on the back of the tongue. There is a sweetness that lingers away.

A bit too thick for my tastes. I guess I'm not comparing it properly against this unfamiliar style, but as a beer it is just too syrupey for me.

Pours a clear, dark brown color. 3/4 inch head of an off-tan color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of yeast, alcohol, sweet malt, slight roasted malt, slight caramel malt, hint of syrup, hint of hop, and. Fits the style of a Eisbock. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, alcohol, yeast, slight caramel malt, slight hop, and hint of pale malt. Overall, malt-centric, balanced, the alcohol warms to a pleasing degree, and another good brew from Kulmbacher.

This is Korbinian with a slightly better mouthfeel. I just can't get into the dark fruit doppelbocks anymore, and this one is par for the course, ho-hum doppelbock. Taste isn't very exciting, nothing different vs. Korbinian or Celebrator, and this is an Eisbock with a relatively low ABV.

Poured into a snifter.

A - Beautiful brown, foamy head. Rich black color.

S - Dark fruits, syrup.

T - A tad sweeter than Aventinus, but many of the same dark fruit and malty tastes. Slight sugary taste, maybe more to brown sugar.

M - A tad thin, but nothing too off-putting.

O - This is a solid and tasty eisbock. Not as good as Aventinus but who cares? It's still enjoyable and worth seeking out if you're in the mood for this style.

Received as part of a “Beer of the Month” gift from my children. Poured into a nonic pint glass.

I really like this beer. Lagers can be complex and as satisfying as a big ale. A beer I will keep in my cellar. 4.5

A – Pours a cola colored/reddish brown, clear (but opaque in the glass), with a half-finger light brown head that quickly dissipates.4.75

S – Malty, some sweetness, bread crusts, prunes, molasses, some vinous grape-like qualities. 4.75

T – Malty with a good bit of sweetness balanced by the alcohol, some slight spiciness and roastiness, low bitterness, a bit of alcohol breaks through. 4.5

MF – Medium-bodied, a bite of alcohol, with a sweetness in the finish. 4
