Pours a hazy golden color with a decent white head forming. Lots of bubbly keeps a lace on the surface and ring on the glass. Smells of a sharp yeast aroma, bready, some green vegetables, toasty wheat. It's funny, but the taste reminds me of spicy apple sauce this time around, some cinnamon. It starts a bit sticky and sweet, then finishes dry and toasty (not sweet or sticky towards the end).

Light bodied, nicely textured mouthfeel, and good carbonation throughout the duration. The balance of flavors and body make this a great beer overall.

I find that Kapuziner Weisbier is an exellent lunch beer. It goes well with chicken parm subs, or whatever else you might like. And at $2 a bottle, you can't beat it for price/value.

Pours chill hazed with thick white head filling the upper 1/3 of the Paulaner Weisbier glass. Slowly falling it is supported by strong beading and substatial lace. Aroma of citrus and clove and belgium yeasts. Taste very solid with hint of clove and citrus balance with sweet grain. Great mouthfeel supported with high carbonation finishes dry but no bitterness from the hops. A very drinkable Hefe-Weizen. Anyone loving this style should be pleased.

Light bodied, hazy pale gold on the edges to orange in the middle of the glass with a respectable white head that retreats slowly to some decent lace.

The aroma is bananas, and cloves over a mild fresh biscuit base.

The taste is fruity - banana, pear, trace of citrus - and spicy - clove. The finish is slightly dry with a lingering banana clove aftertaste.

Very easy to drink and refreshing. should be excellent for hot weather but enjoyable even in cool weather. One bottle won't be enough.

Another one of those that has this undercribable complex goldenish-amber-orange light tone while darker cloudy reddish-orange in the middle. I just love those reflects of mystery.. Plenty of yeast in suspension. Full 1-inch creamy white head, delicately lacing and lasting. Soft estery banana nose, quite fresh in its strong flakey wheat character. Spicy fruit skin, indeed feels a bit tropical, I don’t know how much I was influenced by the commercial description before saying that.. Drinkable and refreshing, very powdery feel. Growing acidity toward the finish cuts the taste a bit short. Hoppier than most, I don’t know how well this goes with the tropical fruit finish. Good balance overall appears shadowed by the strong malty feel, very fitting lower than average carbonation gives it a softness that few beers can achieve. Well, this was pretty good, not as exciting as I hoped it to be, but still one of the good german weizens in the US, as expected from kulmbacher. Fans of the style should hunt this gold dust down.

Hazy gold with many bubbles rising to feed a large, brilliantly white head.

Aroma is fresh, spicy, slightly estery. Especially pungent; the smell of good beer nearly filled the room.

Light bodied but flavorful. A bit of a snap up front, almost vanilla in nature, followed by lightly sweet banana, with some juicy fruit salad in the background.

Progressively more clove and warm bready yeast arrived as I was able to swirl more sediment on my 2nd and 3rd pour. No sourness crept into the finish as with some wheats.

One bottle, euro-sized as it may be, was certainly not enough of this. I will definitely seek more as the weather warms.

The beer pours a hazy pale gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is great. It has a dry, yet sweet wheat malt scent that boasts of cloves and bananas along with a fruity yeast aroma. The taste is awesome. It has a really smooth and fruity flavor that is refreshing and sweet. This is one of the best wheat beers I've ever tasted. Bananas and clove flavors scream from this one. The mouthfeel is perfect. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This beer is full of flavor and aroma; a perfect hefe.

There is not much better than a German Hefe Weizen. This beer is pretty damn good. It is a nice hazy burnt orange and has no head moments after the pour. It has a nice ripe banana aroma. The taste is quite refreshing, a bit of clove and citrus with a nice crisp finish. This is going to be a beer to look for during the summer, but was a nice on this cool evening as well.

16.9 oz bottle served into a beautiful, Kapuziner Weizen .5L glass. First pours reveals a crystal clear, goldenrod body with a large, billowing white head. Exceptional retention and nice lacing on the glass. Second pour, after a swirl of the bottle, transforms the body into a murky orange/tan body, still boasting an attractive snowwhite head. Aroma begins very spicy, with clove, white pepper, and coriander. Citrusy orange and lemon quickly take over the nose, with wheat and yeast notes in the background. Mouthfeel is ideal for style, with a pleasant medium body and moderate carbonation. Taste is fruity orange and lemon on a background of white pepper and clove. Bready wheat and yeast add a nice touch of Weiss character. Very enjoyable and tasty, overall, but not the world beater I was expecting.

good refreshing lunch beer. Worked here in the winter. Yeast and wheat worked for great aroma and easy drinking taste. Bubblegummy banana smoothy fruit flavour. Yeasty apple pie creamy body of aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, though a little aggressive carbonation.

Had again in July and nowhere as good , must be older bottle. I have split the rating down.

5L keg baby!!

Appearence: Pours a cloudy orange with a giant, frothy white head. Head leaves monstrous amounts of lacing, and stays for a while.

Smell: Smells like cloves at first. Very spicy and hoppy with a welcomed malt back that holds it together. Quaff on, kids.

Taste and mouthfeel: Tastes as it smells, only more cloves than expected. A malty, well rounded beer than will keep you sipping. In th mouth, though, it's a little too watery for a weizen.

Drinkability and Overall: This is a very good import from Germany. An almost perfect take on the weizen. I'm very glad I got 5L of it, shouldn't be a problem to kill. This is a brew worth trying, especially in the keg. Try it.

A tall, roiling, starch and protein bomb emerged over this muddy yellow liquid. The top layer was glazed pearlescent. It chattered.
The aromas were rebel-hoppy.
"This is Bavarian Hefe Weizen?"
Aromas of popperings, glazed lemons, cakes, doughs, sweet fruit cocktail, angelfood, clove-laden pineapple cakes, dry, juicy apricots, cream, butter...
pine...
lime...
keylime, cinnamon.
An unctuous, melting texture.
Flavors of orange, pepper and sour banana give it seriousness.

The hops and thorough attenuation make it bone dry, but it is loaded with glycerin.

All my scores are trying to keep in mind the style that is involved here.

Light apricot-peach appearance which forms a 1 finger cap quickly. Settles quickly to a fairly thick foamy brush on top. No lace on glass. Quite murky.

Smell is almost Belgian-blonde type smell. Ok-so maybe I didn't smell this trait until after I had tasted it but that is how it tastes. Much more honey essence than wheat. It is herbal and complex--more so than most Hefe's. No bananna /clove taste to speak of. It has a dry clean finish. It is a good value for the price.

Mouthfeel is just perfect. The way this thing finishes it has a slight peppery aspect but it is dry and clean.

Drinkability is good although I would bet on a hot day even better.

5 liter mini-keg. Hazy tangerine with a THICK whip cream like head, and random pariculates floating around in the glass. The aroma is all about the fruity banana esters, fresh yeasty smells, sweet baked bread, and more. The taste is yeasty up front with a lot of fruit flavor. The middle is more subdued, yeasty and bread-like. The finish shows some gumball-like flavors and has a great, fruity finish. Mouthfeel is good, but almost TOO creamy thick for a hefe-weizen. Drinkability remains good.

Kapuziner Hefewiessbier was served from a traditional German wheat beer bottle into a tall wheat beer glass, where it looked cloudy with a rich orange-golden-straw yellow color and a creamy and fine white head. The nose was potent with wheaty fresh citric maltiness and an underlying banana-nut current. The taste was wheaty with a citric-zesty maltiness that held background spicy banana notes. Subtle banana, spicy hops, and crisp cutting citrus resulted in a tasty and refreshing finish. The body was appropriately full and carbonated. Good stuff!!! One of my favorite hefeweissbiers.

$16.99 for a big 5L can! This is one of the few brews that you can get here in one of those monster 5L cans. It's like draft beer all the time!

This is great session beer. Not too light, not too heavy. hints of the clove and orange, etc. but a good wheaty taste overall. Nothing spectacular but great drinking nonetheless.

This brew is a cloudy orange color, good white foam head topping it off. Great classic hefe aroma, banana, clove, grain malt. Same for the taste, light grain in front, some clove, some light tartness and citrus aspects. Med bodied. Also some spicy elements as well. The germans rock our world when it comes to hefes, and heres another great member of their team.

Not a fan of the style, but I thought this beer did exactly as it was supposed to. Dark cloudy goldenrod when served, it came with a low head. I did appreciate that it did leave white spots of lace through-out the glass. Malt and wheaty notes in the aroma. I found the beer to be very smooth and easy to drink. Taste was mild, with a finish that was all bubblegum. Like I said, I am not a fan of the style, but this beer was exactly as expected, and in fact helped me out by being as mild and smooth as it was.

Pours an opaque orange-amber, topped with a four finger pillowy white head. Leaves webs of lacing.
Banana and tropical fruit aroma. Clove comes in next with a good amount of peppery spice.
Banana and wheat bread taste, a bit tangy, some lemon zest, lemon and pineapple.
Light to medium bodied, refreshing.

A real good, lighter version of the style. Refreshing and citrusy, quite carbonated. Reminds me of the Ayinger and the Baltika. Large, foamy head, very light in color. Easy to drink, a quality brew for sure. Not in the class of the best hefes, IMO, but as good as most.

Turbid looking orange/yellow appearance. Brown center. Nice off-white head. Aroma is nice. Very nice. Banana esters, vanilla, pepper, a little clove. The taste doesn't quite follow through though. Pretty good. Light flavors or vanilla and pepper. Some banana. Overall, just not as pronounced as I'd like to see. The mouthfeel is good. Nicely carbonated. Medium-full body. Solid Hefe, but not in the elite.

Thank you cokes for the sample.

I guess I overlooked this Hefe which looks like a big mistake. I've seen this on shelves in one store that I visit quite often, but I always said, "Maybe later." I waited too long. This pours out cloudy dull orange with some carbonation that stays with you the entire time. Some cloves and bananas are in there to represent the style, but there's also some melon like aromas, along with some malts in the backround. A little unusal, but good nonetheless. Taste was very fruit-citrus like to my surprising. Cloves blend in finally in the middle and lasts until the end. Aftertaste had more of that citrus taste, but it did finish bone dry, almost similar to Orval Trappist Ale. Carbonation was very good, made it smooth and creamy, and just wanted to sip more every time. Don't overlook this Hefe when you see it.

16.9oz dark brown bottle. No freshness date.
It pours a hazy honey amber color with a snow-white head.
It smells much like a field of wild flowers with a hint of citrus peel and cloves. An odd split oak woody aroma is noticed.
The body has a cereal grain taste to it. A taste of honey and caramel begin to strengthen as it warms.
The hops have a slightly sour citrusy taste and a mild flavor of green apples and cloves. A hint of bananas peeks through.
A light peppery spiciness is noticed throughout the glass.
Much better on tap!

The Kulmbacher Kapuziner (say that three times fast) offers a beautiful appearance in the glass with a hazy (but not cloudy) golden-orange body that displays very fine, effervescent bubbles rising steadily beneath a huge head of bright-white froth. The head holds exceptionally well and leaves nice, wide rings of lace and bolds splashes about the glass. The nose is somewhat restrained for the style but offers some banana (and crisp apple) but little clove; and mainy expresses a sweetish, wheat-based maltiness. The body is medium and dextrinous with a very fine carbonation that leaves it creamy and smooth. The flavor displays a rich but not overly sweet, wheat malt that's touched by banana and light, juicy summer fruits (apple, and perhaps some melon) backed by a sublime bitterness and delicate spiciness. Some hop flavors even peek through at the swallow! It's very well-balanced and smooth - and not as richly sweet and effervescent as some - but possibly more drinkable. Well done! And certainly worth seeking out for fans of the style! Unique!

Pours a cloudy yellow, huge thick foamy white head, leaves a clingy lace in the glass, aroma of wheat, bananas and spices. Flavors of wheat, banana-clove yeasty flavor. Nice medium body very clean and crisp, carbonated mouthfeel, finishes with some sweetness, very refreshing and one of my favorites.
